Dancing With The Stars officially announced the cast for the upcoming Season 33 on Wednesday. Many of the cast members gathered on Good Morning America to promote the show alongside the hosts and judges. While some of the names were no surprise to fans, others had viewers outraged and questioning the show’s morals. Some fans were even debating whether or not to watch the season after finding out who would be appearing.
According to People Magazine, the cast is full of reality TV stars, actors, and athletes. Some names are interesting such as Eric Roberts. The actor has enjoyed a long Hollywood career and is known for being the brother to A-lister Julia Roberts and father to actress Emma Roberts.
Other actors announced to participate on Dancing With The Stars Season 33 include Pretty Little Liars: Summer School star Chandler Kinney and Family Matters actor Reginald VelJohnson. Meanwhile, Paris Olympic athletes Stephen Nedoroscik and Ilona Maher are also trying their hand at ballroom dancing. Former NBA star Dwight Howard and ex-NFL receiver Danny Amendola will also be included in the athletic group.
Dancing With The Stars Fans Livid Over Season 33 Casting Choice
Reality TV faces such as Tori Spelling and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks are also joining. As well as the latest Bachelor and Bachelorette Jenn Tran and Joey Graziadei. Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader rounds out the cast.
However, there is one particular cast mate that DWTS viewers aren’t exactly loving. “Fake Heiress” Anna Delvey has been allowed to leave her house arrest to compete on the show. Delvey will compete in her ankle monitor and all as she tries to win the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy.
Delvey is known for convincing hotels, banks, and those close to her that she was a German heiress, per The Daily Beast. She was arrested in 2017 for fraud. Delvey was convicted in 2019 of grand larceny and theft. She was released under house arrest in early 2021.
Fans Weigh In On ‘Fake Heiress’ Anna Delvey Joining DWTS
Fans has plenty to say about the controversial choice of adding Delvey to Dancing With The Stars in Season 33.
“Another year ‘D’ rated talent! Just cancel the show…you are embarrassing yourselves ABC!” one person declared.
“Why is there a convicted con artist on the show this year? I gave up watching the show years ago but was always curious to know who would be on every season. Has DWTS resorted to scraping the bottom of the barrel?” another asked.
“Why are we giving a convict more attention?” a third comment read.
“We shouldn’t be idolizing her. She tried to obtain wealth and fame through deception, manipulation, and fraud – and now TV producers are giving that to her for free. I guess crime does pay if you’re young and pretty,” stated another outraged viewer.
It looks like Anna Delvey may have her work cut out for her if she wants to win Dancing With The Stars. Winning over the fans may take some major effort from the convicted criminal. However, she brings a level of controversy to the show, and will definitely have fans talking.
