Sean Diddy Combs doesn’t want to spend another night in jail. The rapper met his doom on Monday evening when authorities arrested him in New York City. After a grand jury indictment, Diddy was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. While his arrest seemed quite sudden, the music mogul was prepared for it all, even down to his bail money.
Ahead of his hearing before a federal judge for bail terms, Diddy reportedly offered prosecutors a hefty sum. His legal team filed a $50 million offer with the federal court to secure his release from jail, pending when his trial begins. Per TMZ, the Bad Boys Records founder put his Miami mansion โ worth $48 million โ and his mother’s Miami home โ worth $2 million โ as collateral for the bail. Sources told the publication that he knew this day was coming and planned properly for it. Once the criminal investigations kickstarted, Diddy paid off the $18 million debt on his Miami property. He also informed authorities of his decision to sell his private jet to get more funds, but he hasn’t found a buyer.
The record executive not only covered the money front, but he also agreed to some stringent living and traveling conditions. Diddy told the feds that he would wear a monitor so they could track his whereabouts. He also agreed to limit his traveling to only Florida, New York, and New Jersey.
Diddy Considered To Be At Flight Risk By Prosecutors
While Diddy is willing to put a lot on the line to assure authorities that he won’t escape, they have no faith in him. During a press conference about the case, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams revealed that they want the rapper denied bail. Williams said his office believes the artist is a flight risk and a danger to society. It comes as no surprise, given Diddy’s alleged victims accused him of physical violence.
The public prosecutor believes Diddy’s motive to flee is the severity of his sentence. If convicted, he would face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a statutory maximum sentence of life in prison. However, it is up to a judge to determine whether Diddy is locked up or not.
