The gorgeous couple raised eyebrows with their outing, as fans were stunned to see that the actor’s appearance looked to be altered in some way. Many agreed that the 54-year-old How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star looked “different” than in recent years. Of course, a debate immediately began to take place online about why McConaughey’s face looked different than usual.
According to The Daily Mail, some fans went as far as to say that Matthew McConaughey’s eyes and nose looked unusual. Others claimed that the actor looked nearly unrecognizable during the red carpet event and worried for his health.
Matthew McConaughey Sparks Debate After Showing Altered Appearance
While plastic surgery is often the first thought of fans, as well as health concerns, one plastic surgery claims that the actor has simply lost weight, which has changed his appearance.
“Personally, I don’t believe that Matthew McConaughey has undergone rhinoplasty. I think the change in the size and shape of his nose could be attributed to weight loss, particularly in his face,” Dr. Reza Nassab tells the outlet.
Meanwhile, several fans agreed that the actor hasn’t looked the same since his role in The Dallas Buyers Club. The film earned McConaughey an Oscar. However, he had to lose an alarming amount of weight for the role.
“He’s never been the same after Dallas Buyers Club. I think he took it too far and it permanently altered his look,” one person stated.
“His appearance changed, apparently irrevocably after he lost a ton of weight for Dallas Buyers Club. He never looked quite the same after that,” another comment read.
“He was never the same after he lost so much weight for that one role in a short amount of time. He lost too much muscle mass, even his jaw muscle reduced significantly. At certain ages, you just can’t undo damage to your body,” a third person agreed.
“He lost so much weight for Dallas Buyers Club and it really sucked the volume out of his face. That and he’s aged. No big deal though, he’s still handsome,” stated another.
Matthew McConaughey is still one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. However, it seems that even he is not exempt from speculation about his appearance as he ages.
