For a while now, games within the Final Fantasy franchise have occasionally been released on the Xbox family of consoles. Typically, those games have been reserved for the PlayStation family, but why wouldn’t Square Enix want to branch out to other platforms, especially as they release more AAA games like Final Fantasy 16? Well, the developer might have heard fans’ cries because the latest information from the rumor mill is that both FF16 and Pixel Remaster are headed to Xbox.
The rumor was started by Twitter user @ryanfrombronx, a well-known leaker who frequently changes usernames. In the post, they state that the games are coming “pretty soon,” though there is no clear indication of what that means. Ideally, that would be before the end of the year.
Would FF16 and Pixel Remaster Be on Game Pass?
In the replies to Ryan’s post, fans ask if the game is also expected to be on Game Pass, considering Microsoft’s track record of launching games on both platforms. Other fans also ask if the games are expected to be revealed at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, starting September 26th. Unfortunately, Ryan doesn’t leave many responses. However, they do make a curious reply to one user’s question.
One user asked if Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth were in the cards to be released on Xbox, and Ryan responded with a simple “yes.” Ryan has been known for leaking Square Enix content for some time, so it’s likely that the information rings true. The developer itself hasn’t made any comment nor acknowledged the rumors.
Hopefully, the Xbox versions of Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be revealed during the Tokyo Game Show, and a release date will be near. I would love to play the games as part of my Game Pass subscription.
