Resident Evil 3 is coming to PC after nearly 25 years since its original launch. No, I’m not talking about the remake that came out in 2020; I mean the ORIGINAL PlayStation 1 title. A Tweet posted by GOG notifies fans that they can now wishlist the game on the client for a September 25 release date.
Originally released on June 16, 2000, Resident Evil 3 introduced many players to Jill Valentine, one of the protagonists from the first installment. Having resigned from STARS (rightfully so), she decides to leave Racoon City only to be sought after by a deadly entity. Now, GOG has let us all know that it’s headed to PC for the first time, and fans can expect new and improved features.
Resident Evil 3 Returns to PC on GOG
The GOG version of Resident Evil 3 will not only be compatible with Windows 10 and 11 but also include six localizations and Mercenaries Mode. It will also have improved graphics engine initialization, subtitles, mouse cursor visibility, and more. Players hoping to use a controller will be pleased to know that the DualSense, DualShock4, Xbox controllers, and Nintendo Switch controllers will be compatible.
One Twitter user replied to GOG’s announcement, reminding them of the game’s 25th anniversary coming up, to which they replied,
While the release of Resident Evil 3 on PC doesn’t necessarily mean anything, it‘s exciting to see that Capcom is slowly releasing more Resident Evil content in anticipation of Resident Evil 9’s announcement. Resident Evil 9 has already appeared in listings on PlayAsia.com alongside new listings for Code Veronica and Resident Evil 5. It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the convoluted zombie franchise.
Resident Evil 3 will be available on PC via GOG on September 25, 2024.
