The wait is almost over. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is releasing on PlayStation 4 on June 27 as a timed exclusive, meaning it should come to other systems not long after. Break out your ghillie suit; it’s time to jump back into one of the classics of the annual shooter series.
It may sound crazy now, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a revelation on release. The single player mode featured a gripping narrative with excellent voice acting, over the top action sequences, and some of the best missions in the series’ history. Who can forget “All Ghillied Up?” Besides the excellent single player mode, the real place Modern Warfare shined was the online multiplayer. Features like killstreaks, prestige mode, and the unlockable progression were introduced to the series with this title, and are now commonplace in Call of Duty titles and many other shooters.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will feature the original game’s full campaign, as well as its full compliment of multiplayer maps, modes, and playlists. Every map and model in the game have been fully upgraded to high definition visuals. Modern Warfare Remastered originally saw release with the deluxe edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, but there was enough demand for a standalone release that Activision needed to act.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will release as a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive on June 27. It will release on other consoles at a later date. If you are itching to see the shooter series truly return to the past, then you will need to wait for November, when Call of Duty: WW2 releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
