However, the artist has recently opened up about his family’s past regarding substance abuse, as well as his own struggles with it. MGK also spoke about how he has changed himself for the better by getting sober. Kelly seems to be a new man as he continues down the road of sobriety. Can he continue down the right path?
People reports that Machine Gun Kelly talked about his family’s “generational curses.” Kelly’s father was also an addict as well as an alcoholic. MGK explained that he wants to be a better father than his dad was. This stems from when Kelly’s now 15-year-old daughter told him that “she knew when he was high.” That seemingly woke Colson up, and he realized, “It’s my job to be a better man.”

“It took me a while afterward, because obviously drugs have a vice grip on you. That was step one for me,” said Kelly. “As a father and as a man, to be the father I wish my dad would have been, I have to break this generational curse for my kid.”
MGK also explained that his long-time girlfriend, Megan Fox, was “extremely helpful” in getting the singer sober. Fox and Kelly have had their fair share of relationship problems. However, the artists and the model seem to be doing everything possible to make their love for each other work.
Machine Gun Kelly is going on about a year of being sober as he confirmed that his last drink was “last August.” On top of being completely sober, the singer also has a popular new song out with Jelly Roll, titled “Lonely Road.” Kelly has bettered his life and pushed away the drugs and alcohol.
