Katy Perry is going viral over her latest fan interaction. After performing at the Rock in Rio music festival earlier this month, the “Woman’s World” singer was seen casually walking around Brazil after ordering takeout. Of course, a crowd instantly formed around the pop star once she was recognized. Although most onlookers just filmed her while she passed by, one young boy appeared to get caught up in the excitement by grabbing Perry from behind. While everything turned out fine, the incident has drawn a lot of online concern.
Katy Perry Brazil Incident Sparks Concern From Fans On TikTok
The Katy Perry incident in Brazil has gotten over 600K views on TikTok. During the viral clip, the former American Idol judge was seen causing a stir while walking through the streets of Brazil. Dressed in low-rise jeans and a butterfly crop top, Perry appeared to have ordered takeout earlier as she carried an open pizza box during her late-night stroll.
She was all smiles as a crowd formed around her. Most fans gave her a bit of space by filming her from afar. However, one boy got overly excited and ran up to Perry and grabbed her. Security intervened by pulling the kid off the star. Despite the scary situation, Perry managed to keep her composure. She even briefly talked to the boy before offering him a slice of pizza and hugging him.
Thankfully, everything turned out alright. After watching Perry’s interaction with the boy, fans praised the singer online for how she handled the incident. “Must’ve been frightening but she gave them a moment and appreciated that. That’s a pop star and genuinely nice person,” one fan wrote on TikTok. “The way she handles it with grace and hugs him after tells you everything you need to know about her soul,” another person commented.
However, others couldn’t help but criticize how security let someone get so close to Perry. “The delayed reaction of that security guard is concerning,” one comment read. “Great security,” another person wrote sarcastically.
Perry was in Brazil for the Rock in Rio music festival. She took the stage on Friday, Sept. 20, which was the same day she dropped her seventh studio album, 143.
