Gigi led a lineup of models that walked the runway for Vetements on Friday night at the 2024 Paris Fashion Week. While the collection donned by other models, Travis Scott included, featured black leather ensembles, Gigi stood out in her flashy yellow dress, which turned out to be strictly wound-up DHL tape, another stroke of genius from Vetements cofounder Guram Gvasalia.
The model’s DHL tape mini dress featured a strapless design, which clung intimately to her trim figure, accentuating her chest area and slender waist. Gigi Hadid slipped her long legs into a pair of pumps wrapped in similar DHL packing tape as she took to the runway. While the model handled the catwalk with her usual level of professionalism, she took a bad step at some point when her heels swayed as she strutted along.
A viral video from the Paris Fashion Week Vetements SS25 runway show captured the slight slip-up. In the clip, Gigi Hadid is seen cat-walking in her yellow DHL packing tape mini dress, with impressed onlookers taking snapshots of her. Right before reaching the end of the runway, she appeared to trip but casually steadied herself with a slight pause.
Thankfully, Gigi Hadid managed to avoid a full-blown catastrophe, effortlessly regaining her balance and completing the runway show. This isn’t the first time the 29-year-old would gracefully deflect a runway mishap like a pro. In 2019, the model walked the Marc Jacobs runway barefoot at the New York Fashion Week after her heel broke in the first opening. The model made the walk seem as natural as possible, walking on tiptoes through the crowd and racking up applause.
Two years earlier, Gigi Hadid had a similar experience, which earned her the respect of the fashion world. The then-22-year-old hit the Ana Sui runway in a gold evening dress and sky-high platform heels at the New York Fashion Week. One of her shoes was notably missing during the catwalk yet, the star did not bat an eyelid as she took on the runway with just a shoe on. Clearly, it takes more than a runway malfunction to hold back this supermodel.
