Knock, knock. Who’s there? Your missing dog, of course! No, we haven’t heard that one before either, but it appears to be the case for one lucky Reddit user.
Earlier today, Redditor uncle_russell_90 shared a 25-second snippet of footage showing their canine returning home during nighttime after having allegedly been missing for 22 hours. In the video, the hound waits patiently and stares up at the door cam for a few moments before nonchalantly standing up on its hind legs and ringing the doorbell with its paws.
The doggo in question — which appears to be an American Pit Bull Terrier — proceeds to then sit down and wait patiently for its owner to open the door. Yes, our hearts melted while watching the cute video, too.
Accompanying the post was the caption: “Dog goes missing day before to show up 22 hours later at 4am.”
Of course, shortly after, the social media platform exploded with hundreds of light-hearted comments from other Redditors. The OP, who procured over a 1,700 Likes, amusingly declared:
Like he left his keys inside

While the Reddit comments section was brimming with funny responses, some netizens shared similar stories about their dogs going missing and thankfully returning home safely.
My dog broke out and went missing for 11 days. I’d posted on our local lost and found page. Reached out to the shelter. Rode and walked the neighborhoods. I’d all but given up. Then I’m sitting there working from home one day and I hear slamming against the door. Opened it up and there was him and his massive noggin looking like he just went for a brief stroll.

Ultimately, it’s hard to not break a smile at wholesome pet stories like these, and it’s especially heartwarming when the ending is a happy one. I mean, they do say that every dog has its day, and today that old adage has been well and truly proven to be 100 percent true, right?
