Donald Trump‘s words have once again made him public enemy No. 1. The Republican presidential candidate took things a little too far when he mocked former President Jimmy Carter. What’s worse? Trump made the scathing remark on his milestone 100th birthday.
During a campaign stop in Waunakee, Wisconsin, at a manufacturing facility, Trump brought up the 39th President’s name but not in relation to his birthday. After taking a jab at Joe Biden, calling him the “worst” president in US History, the convicted president said, “Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president in comparison.”
Per USA Today, Trump is no stranger to shading the oldest living US President. During a May rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, he referred to Carter as “Jimmy Connors,” a retired ’70s tennis star.
Trump’s feud with the former president, who has publicly endorsed his opponent, Kamala Harris, didn’t stop at the harsh joke. The Republican is the only living president who failed to wish Carter a happy birthday. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Biden all posted on social media.
Fans Bash ‘Despicable’ Donald Trump For Not Being ‘Gracious’
Trump’s insult wasn’t well-received by the public, especially because of its timing. Many attacked the 45th president for stooping so low. “He is a despicable man. How hard would it be to be gracious for the 100th birthday?” one fan mentioned. Another comment read, “Just when I don’t think he could be a bigger jerk….he says, hold my beer.” A third fan slammed:
“Donald Trump is not even half the man Jimmy Carter is.”
A fourth remark read, “The fat demented old geezer known as Trump is not fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as former President Jimmy Carter.” Despite the backlash, Trump has never been one to be repentant, and not even Carter’s special 100th birthday can change that.
