Mortal Kombat Creator Teases A Potential Deception Remastered As They Might Want To ‘Bring It Back’

”Shujinko? What kind of a stupid name is Shujinko?”

Mortal Kombat‘s creator and director often likes to hype up things that may not even be a part of NetherRealm Studios’ plan. The connection that Master Boon has created with the MK community is rooted deep, resulting in changes and balancing updates in favor of fans in the recent titles. However, today he shared a very ambiguous post on X, teasing a possible return to the 3D Era of Mortal Kombat by releasing MK: Deception Remastered.

Ed Boon’s post addresses the quick pass of 20 years from the release of Mortal Kombat: Deception, but it also hints at bringing it back in a mysterious sense. This points out two possibilities for the gory franchise, as we either get our hands on the precious remastered version of Mortal Kombat: Deception and probably other 3D Era titles like Armageddon and Deadly Alliance, or the story of the next MK game is going to be heavily based on Dragon King Onaga and his return after two decades of absence.

After a disappointing multiverse story that rubbed away the possible return of the Deadly Alliance and Onaga in Mortal Kombat 1, it’s still possible that we see an even more prominent version of the Dragon King invading all timelines until only 1 remains. This plot makes logical sense if that’s the way we’re going to see the MK multiverse’s end.

If not, we could still be getting ourselves a solid remaster or even better, a remake of Mortal Kombat: Deception. The MK Chess, Puzzle Kombat, and the Shujinko Konquest mode with tons of easter eggs is just a plethora of fun. However, there’s one more game that many have been asking about its return in the form of a remake or sequel, and that’s Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.

If returning to Mortal Kombat: Deception in a remastered fashion becomes a thing, then we could hope that one day the one and only Co-Op 3D action adventure Mortal Kombat game get revived.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
