Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns adds more than a story expansion to the mix by giving players a set of finisher moves called Animality. A kombatant turning into an animal to rip off the opponent was last seen in UMK3, and now it’s back after three decades. However, while all of these Animality finishers look amazing, we can still rank them to find the best in Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1 Animality moves are graphically well designed and so detailed to begin with. Some of these finishers are much better than the ordinary ones, but you can even dig through the better to find the best. So here we are, listing the best Mortal Kombat 1 Animalities based on 4 tiers, and then we’ll go for the top 5 as the ultimate ranking list.

On the top tier, we’ve got more action going on, with Eagly teaming up with Peacemaker as a twin and Rain puffing the enemy inside out. Then there’s the A-Tier list, featuring some of the coolest finishing animations with Ashrah vomiting rainbow on the opponent and Ermac showing some numbers as he proves what “We Are Many, You Are One!” actually means.

Down below on the C-Tier, Scorpion kills the target as a, well, a scorpion and Noob Saibot makes a callback to his famous MK9 Fatality. On the bottom, the Animalities are far from being the best in Mortal Kombat 1, featuring General Shao as a bear that simply kills and Reiko ramming the target.

So all the S-Tier contenders are here in the ultimate top 5 best Mortal Kombat 1 Animality finishers ranking. But since there are only 4 on top, we need the best out of the A-Tier Animalities to join this list as the starter.

5. Liu Kang

The number 5 spot on the best Mortal Kombat 1 Animalities list goes to the God of Fire and protector of the Earthrealm. Liu Kang turns into a phoenix, hugs the opponent, and burns him to the ashes as he’s reborn from that. Probably one of the most innovative ways of showing Liu Kang’s fire powers without drawing the klassic dragon card.

4. Reptile

Admit it, we all thought that Reptile would turn into a reptile to kill off the enemy. But instead, he’s a Venus Flytrap! These plants are scary in real life, and it looks even scarier when it chews a kombatant in Reptile’s Animality.

3. Rain

Ever since playing Crash Bandicoot 3 as a kid, I’ve always hated the pufferfish. There’s this sense of phobia of what happens if one of these gets stuck into one’s stomach, and for that my fellow kombatants, Rain has the answer. This Animality is one that I truly felt while watching.

2. Omni-Man

There are many gruesome fights in the Invicibles series, but the one in the Season 1 finale was probably the best. Just think about Omni-Man getting nearly killed in a fight, and you know how gory that’s been. And who tried to do such an unbelievable act? A kaiju called Hail Mary. In Mortal Kombat 1, Omni-Man turns into this creature to perform one of the best Animalities that earns its spot on the second place.

1. Peacemaker

In gory scenes and chaotic actions, a bit of goofiness can balance the whole scenario. That’s where Peacemaker as a character comes in, with his Animality carrying the same message. Peacemaker turns into an eagle, teams up with Eagly, and then shoots the target with M16s after cutting their legs. Eagly blows up the enemy with a grenade, and we get to see one of the coolest after-finisher pose shots ever in a Mortal Kombat game.

Do you agree with this best Mortal Kombat 1 Animality ranking list? Remember, all of these Animality finishers are awesome, and with a difference in taste, some of them might replace the top spots for each player.
