If you’ve seen the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, you know there’s only one “it-girl,” and her name is Kyle Richards; however, she almost quit. The reality star has held a diamond on Bravo since 2010. But things haven’t always been smooth sailing. In addition to dealing with sobriety issues with her sister, Kim, Kyle has also been the center of controversy among the cast. Season 13, which aired in October 2023, saw Kyle dealing with marital issues with her husband of 27 years, Mauricio Umansky.

Due to their nearly three decades together, their challenges concerned a few others, which led to speculation and a ton of drama. The chaos, though, almost became too much for Kyle to handle. In a new interview with Us Weekly, the Housewives OG explained that she nearly walked away from the show after last year. And now we know why.

When news broke that Kyle and Mau were headed for Divorce Street, it concerned everybody, including her co-stars. However, their concern, which turned into gossip, led Kyle Richards to almost quit the show she started.

“These last two years have been the most difficult of my life,” she told Us. “I didn’t want to put myself through the scrutiny. I didn’t feel supported by a lot of the cast, so I felt like I wanted to disappear for a while.”

Somehow, though, Kyle found the strength to return for another season. “We have a lot of fun times, too, and the producers are family to me at this point, so I knew that would be another loss for me. My husband was just about to move out.”

Fans saw a bit of their relationship journey during the last batch of episodes. But now that it’s been over a year since Kyle and Mau shared the news, watchers should get a closer look at how things are going between them today when the new season airs in November 2024.

“Mau shot with me quite a bit,” Kyle explained. “He’ll come over for dinner, and it’s like nothing has changed, yet everything has changed. The best way I can put it is that we’re family. It’s easy for us to get along because we never fought. That was not an issue in our marriage; there’s so much love there.”
