Since there appeared to be no sign of them slowing down, the singer decided to finally address them in her Charli xcx collab, “Sympathy is a Knife.” Throughout the song, Grande gets real about the criticism she’s received about her body over the years. From people believing she’s gotten work done on her face to the unnecessary comments about her weight, the Wicked star has had enough of everyone’s opinions of her.

In Ariana Grande and Charli xcx’s collab for “Sympathy is a Knife,” the pop stars take turns firing back at some of the biggest misconceptions about them. For Grande, that’s speculation she’s gotten plastic surgery. “It’s a knife when you’re so pretty, they think it must be fake,” she sings on the Brat remix track.
The musician also referenced the constant body-shaming comments she receives from the media. “It’s a knife when they dissect your body on the front page,” she continued. “It’s a knife when they won’t believe you, why should you explain?”
Ariana Grande and Charli xcx’s collab is featured on the British singer’s remix album, Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat. The record dropped on Friday, Oct. 11, just weeks after Grande previously addressed the plastic surgery rumors.
In a Lie Detector Test for Vanity Fair, the Wicked actress confirmed she’s gotten fillers and Botox, but “that is the extent” of her cosmetic procedures. Although she denied getting any more work done, she’s in “full support” of others who choose to “do these things.”
“Whatever makes women, men, non-gender conforming people feel beautiful should be allowed,” she said. “Why do we care?”
Grande’s comments come amid the press tour for Wicked. The movie officially hits theaters next month on Friday, Nov. 22.
