Gypsy Rose Blanchard has experienced many firsts since leaving prison last December. From posting her “first selfie of freedom” on Instagram to trying her first-ever pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, the star is making the most of her newfound freedom. While she’s done so much in just a few short months, one of her favorite experiences has been none other than turning 33. Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s birthday was one to remember thanks to her boyfriend, Ken Urker.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Birthdays Have Always Been “Complicated”
During the latest episode of The Viall Files podcast, Nick Viall asked Gypsy Rose Blanchard about what has been her favorite holiday to celebrate as a free woman. Instead of talking about her first Valentine’s Day or Easter, the mother-to-be opened up about her first birthday post-prison life.
Blanchard said she knows “it’s not a holiday,” but celebrating her birthday this year has been the biggest highlight. It was a special moment for her because for once, she was able to go all out with the festivities. “In the past, birthdays for me have been complicated, and in prison the last eight and a half years, my birthdays have been nothing more than my roommates making me a paper card,” she explained.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s birthday this year included a celebratory lunch with her father, Rod Blanchard, and her stepmother, Kristy Blanchard. Later that night, Blanchard’s boyfriend, Ken Urker, also surprised her by taking her to the Ritz-Carlton for a “fancy dinner.”
“It was so sweet,” she said, adding that Urker also baked her a cake. “He burned the first one, and so he had to remake it. There was so much love that went into that cake. I thought it was so sweet.”
