Everybody knows that most professional athletes care about their appearance. Of course, they spend hours in the weight room sculpting the perfect physique. However, many spend a lot of time in other places, too—like luxury fashion stores. That’s the case for Ja’Marr Chase, who plays alongside Joe Burrow with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Over the summer, Burrow sparked many conversations about his sense of style. In addition to shaving his head and dying it bleach blond, which he said was out of boredom, the quarterback was spotted in some killer outfits.
During a conversation with Us Weekly, Ja’Marr explained that Burrow’s switch-up is all thanks to him. “I’m starting to get him into more fashion stuff lately,” the wide receiver said. “Last year was the first year where I started to buy stuff for him, and he would consider [wearing] it. We’ve started talking more about shoes and other brands. He’s starting to like it more.”
Ja’Marr Chase Praise Joe Burrow for ‘Breaking Barriers’
Before their time together on the Bengals, Ja’Marr and Joe had a budding relationship. The pair were on the same team that won a national title in 2019 at LSU. So, it’s safe to say that Chase knows a lot about the young QB. According to him, helping the star with his fashion is all an effort to get Burrow “out his comfort zone.”
“He’s still breaking barriers, trying to be himself and show off more of his personality and stuff,” Chase said.
Burrow holds several NFL records since joining the league in 2020. In 2021, he was named AP’s Comeback Player of the Year following his season-ending knee injury the year before.
“I try to help him with that,” Ja’Marr said. “[I] try to get him to open up more. You know, he’s always been the quiet guy. He knows when to talk, but I just want him to talk more often.”
The 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year continued, praising Joe for his growth as a person. “I’ve seen him get more status as the years go by. I expect it at this point.” He also referenced the buzz Joe caused this summer with his bleach-blonde hairdo.
“… seeing the kids change their hair colors was just an inspiration, you know what I’m saying? That let me know what a big inspiration he is to everyone.”
So, what will Joe pop out in this Sunday when the Bengals face Jalen Hurts and the Eagles? We’ll have to wait and see.
