We all know that when Karens decide to go off about something, there are really no bounds to what they go off about and when it will happen. Honestly, Karen disasters can strike at any time, even in the drive-through line at a smoothie joint. This Karen, in particular, went off on an employee at a Smoothie place who was just trying to do her job, all for a bit of cash, in a video posted on Reddit. Mad props to the employee for keeping her cool, though.
It’s one thing to get upset at a fast food employee for doing their job wrong or for being lazy, but to blame it on the employee’s mistake when you’re just looking for money is another entirely. This woman had paid for her smoothie with a gift card, but instead of driving away happily, she stuck around to throw a tantrum about her smoothie not being blended properly. Really quick before we get into it, how does one blend a smoothie improperly? I’m fairly certain it just needs to be, well, blended. There isn’t any kind of fancy art involved.
Karen starts off with a pretty aggressive tone, “You’re going to tell me that you can’t fulfill my order?” Meanwhile, the poor girl at the window is just trying her hardest to give the woman a refund and get her out of her hair and out of the drive-through line. Though, that’s not all. Rather than trying to get to the root of the issue, she starts coming at the employee, saying “You’re acting very hostile,” when the only thing the girl has asked her is, “Can I scan your app please?“
The reason for this Karen’s tantrum is quickly revealed, when the woman refuses to have the money she paid for the smoothie re-loaded onto her gift card. She won’t cooperate or try to come to any kind of conclusion until the end of the video, where she asks the employee for cash instead, and is happy to drive off with all $10.56 in her pocket.
Redditors wasted no time hopping in the comments to speak their mind. “She paid with a gift card and demanded cash for the refund. It was never about blending; it was always about forcing this kid to turn her gift card into cash. Trashy as f***,” said one user, clearly seeing through the Karen’s acting. Another followed up with “Exactly. Someone probably got her a gift card she didn’t want and this is how she gets something out of it.”
Though, nobody seemed to really look at the whole picture until someone commented on the employee, who kept calm and didn’t let the woman get to her, “Give that girl a raise.” Another appreciated the employee’s professionalism, commenting, “I love her patience and professionalism. That’s what this should have been titled.”
It truly just goes to show that Karens just can’t help themselves sometimes.
