Metaphor: ReFantazio Stat Allocation Guide

You cannot respec

While your party members’ stats will be locked, you have a bit more options with the protagonist. Each time you level up in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you can access the stat allocation screen, where you can assign one extra point to one of the five stats. You can put it wherever you wish, but it is better if you know what you are doing. If you want to maximize your playthrough, then you need to choose the best stat that suits your chosen Archetypes.

Let’s start by explaining what each stat in Metaphor: ReFantazio means. There are five that you can find in the game:

  • Strength: The primary stats that affect your raw power. This is mainly related to physical attacks.
  • Magic: It’s magic so the higher this stat is the more powerful your magical abilities become.
  • Endurance: This is your defensive point. If you want to be tanky, you can upgrade this one.
  • Agility: This affects how fast you can attack and how likely you can dodge.
  • Luck: This stat affects the quality and quantity of the items you get during a playthrough.

Out of all the five stats, Luck is probably the most useless. The rare gear that you want to get is usually located inside a treasure chest. As long as you open all of them, you can get all of the best gear in the game.

Agility is more useful, but it’s not that necessary. I believe investing points in Endurance is much better than hoping your character will dodge. So, the best stats you need to allocate most of your points toward are Strength and Magic.

Personally, I recommend focusing on Magic more. This is because of the best Archetypes that the protagonist should equip. The Seeker class is the obvious one, but during the early game, it is better to give the Healer class to the protagonist.

Near the end of the game, you will also unlock a unique Archetype that only the protagonist can use. This class has many useful abilities that require MP, which will be affected by your Magic. That’s why I recommend focusing on Magic over Strength. Don’t worry; for physical attacks, you can depend on Strohl and Hulkenberg and, later down the line, Basilio.

Note that you cannot respec or reset the stat points that you have allocated during a level-up. Once you place those points, say goodbye because you’re not getting it back. That’s why you must know what you are doing. During my playthrough, I was playing blind, so I put equal amounts into Strength and Magic. It wasn’t the worst decision, but my Almighty attack certainly lacked some damage.
