The XM4 is back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and once again, it’s one of the most balanced weapons to use in the game. However, Black Ops 6 has a new option for XM4, allowing you to build one of the best meta AR loadouts with it using one broken attachment. No worries, it’s not a bug or anything that’d ruin your game. The XM4 is just built to be more substantial this year.
Meta XM4 Loadout For Close-Range
- Fire Mods: Rapid Fire

The XM4 assault rifle isn’t supposed to complete with SMG class, however, this build beats some of the best in the SMG category, besting close and mid-range battles with high power, moderate recoil, and amazing movement speed for an AR.
The ultimate item that turns this close-range XM4 loadout into meta is the Rapid Fire mod. It only adds 8% to the fire rate of your weapon, but that small number does more than you could ever imagine. And while this won’t work on every other weapon, XM4’s soft recoil is the best for having lightweight attachments and the Rapid Fire mod.
Speaking of which, the XM4 Light Stock and Commando Grip help increase your movement and sprint-to-fire speed, which is the core element for the best close-range meta loadouts in Black Ops 6. The Flip Mag doubles down on these mobility stats, while Suppressor keeps you under the radar as you shoot down those targets.

First, we’ll have the Long Barrel for the best damage range; simple. Then, we’ll have the Compensator muzzle and Vertical Foregrip to eliminate all the remaining horizontal and vertical reoil there is. Now if you want to keep the movement speed, the Extended Mag I is the best. If not, go for the mark II. Also, remember to mount an optic on your rifle for more precision aiming.
The XM4 is a well-rounded weapon overall, but you can’t apply every attachment to it and enjoy using it. If you leave it without the Rapid Fire mod for close-range and the accuracy-based attachments for long-range, you’d lose to the SMG and AR/LMG meta.
