King Charles has a reliable source to turn to for updates on his second son Prince Harry and royal experts believe Princess Eugenie to be that middleman. The British monarch’s relationship with his younger son Harry has been strained for years, especially in the wake of Megxit, and the Sussexes’ controversial revelations about the royal family in books, interviews, and documentaries. While things seem to be shifting towards a more positive turn in recent times, there remains a huge margin between the monarch and his son that only a genuine reconciliation could fill. While this reconciliation seems far off on the horizon, Princess Eugenie’s involvement with Prince Harry reportedly bridges this gap to some extent.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, royal correspondent Jennie Bond revealed Princess Eugenie had a key role to play in the royal reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles, as well as the rest of the royal family. The expert cited the princess’ close bond with her cousin Harry, while still being on good terms with King Charles and the rest of the family. Jennie believes that, as the neural party in this feud, the monarch somehow benefits from Eugenie’s closeness to Harry.
Princess Eugenie Acts as Link Between Prince Harry and King Charles
The royal expert suggested that King Charles was in fact happy knowing his estranged son Prince Harry at least had one royal cousin on his side, whom he deems trustworthy. Hence, a genuine update on how his son is faring can always be one question away. The former BBC royal correspondent voiced,
“The family are all so busy that they don’t really see that much of one another. However, I think it’s a positive thing that Charles does have someone he can quietly ask about Harry‘s well-being if he is so inclined. And Harry can presumably gauge the mood of the family via Eugenie.”
Going further, the royal expert revealed that while a royal reconciliation still seems unlikely at this point despite the recent olive branch, Eugenie remained the best candidate to make that significant step possible.
This comes as Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle recently scored a property in Portugal in a surprising move. While the reasoning behind their latest purchase remains unclear, royal observers believe this is a telltale sign that the Sussexes intend to spend more time in the country and perhaps seize the opportunity to secure the golden visa.
Additionally, it would serve to bring Prince Harry and his wife and kids closer to Princess Eugenie, who resides with her husband Jack Brooksbank in his lavish family mansion in Comporta, Portugal. Ideally, should the Sussexes indeed relocate to Portugal, it would not only bring Harry closer to his cousin but also expose his kids Archie and Lilibeth to much-needed healthier relationships with their royal cousins and, possibly, other members of the royal fold.
