Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce fans were stunned when comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made some very shocking comments about the couple during a rally for Donald Trump in New York over the weekend. The comedian dropped jaws among the singer’s loyal followers when he compared the Kansas City Chiefs tight end to famed football player turned accused murderer, OJ Simpson. Of course, the joke was not well received by many, including the millions of Swifties across the globe.
Tony Hinchcliffe spoke at Donald Trump’s rally just days before the 2024 election. He told several jokes that were deemed offensive by many. Including stating that he thought Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, could become the next OJ Simpson.
“I don’t know about you guys, but that Travis Kelce might be the next OJ Simpson,” he said.
Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend Travis Kelce Compared to OJ Simpson at Trump Rally
As many fans may already know, Simpson was famously arrested for the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. He went on to be acquitted of the murders, but many in the public weren’t convinced that he was innocent. As a former NFL legend, Simpson’s downfall was a shock.
The comment is thought to be more of a dig at Swift than her partner, Kelce. Previously, the singer threw her public support toward Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, Kelce hasn’t spoken out in public support for any candidate. Although, it’s believed that he likely sides with Swift when it comes to his political views.
Many fans weren’t happy with Hinchcliffe’s comments.
“That’s not a joke. That’s just saying something edgy like a 12-year-old,” one person wrote via Reddit.
“Low hanging fruit that makes no sense is gold for that crowd,” another wrote.
“The audience didn’t even chuckle,” a third person stated.
“I was stunned and disgusted by these comments. I get comedy and telling shocking, dark jokes. But a political rally is no place for it. This is what it’s come to? Save it for the comedy club,” a fourth comment read.
Tony Hinchcliffe also drew major criticism for racist jokes about Latinos as well. He also referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage,” per NBC News.
Neither Taylor Swift nor Travis Kelce have spoken out about the OJ Simpson comment. However, it’s clear that Swifties aren’t happy about the disturbing remarks by the Trump-supporting comedian.
