Nick Cannon recently revealed his insecurities led to his divorce from Mariah Carey. During a podcast interview, the Wild ‘n Out star discussed his previous marriage with the “biggest star in the world.” Throughout the viral clip, the Masked Singer host said getting married young probably wasn’t the best move for him. He continued, explaining that his relationship with Mariah made him question his “manhood.”
“I would lay up at night thinking, like, ‘Is this who I am?'” he revealed on the Ray Daniels podcast. “‘Am I Mariah’s man? Is that what my life is supposed to be?'”
Nick Cannon Says Holding the ‘Diaper Bag’ Put His ‘Man Sh*t’ at Stake
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey married in 2008. Several years later, the celebrity couple welcomed twins — Monroe and Moroccan. Cannon, who has 10 other children, revealed he was very “comfortable” in his marriage. He even mentioned Mariah’s personal staff, who would bring him “steaks on a platter.”
However, no matter how much Filet mignon he received, his relationship with Carey made him feel less than. In fact, Cannon said his “man sh*t” was at stake. (Whatever that means).
“I’m carrying a purse [and] the diaper bag,” he said. “You know, I’m standing on the corner like, ‘Wait.’ She’s rocking being the alpha,'” he continued. “I believe she needs a dude like that. I’m just not that dude.”
Eventually, Nick said he did much “self-evaluation.” He even recalled staying in the hospital and telling himself he had “so much more to do.”
Fans Lay into Nick for Saying He Left Mariah Due to Self-Reflection
Nick Cannon’s statements certainly riled up fans online, and many are dragging the star for spewing what they believe to be nonsense.
Many users posted their feelings to X, formerly Twitter, saying Nick had “no business” being with Mariah in the first place. “I hope women see the problem in dating down,” another user shared. “They will always see their inferiority when they look at you and find ways to get you back.”
Other netizens also chimed in, mentioning Nick’s 10 additional children and his relationships with their mothers.
“So he goes on to have a whole army with a bunch of women so they can carry the diaper bags,” one poster wrote. But it didn’t stop there. Another commenter shamed Nick for blaming Mariah when he has “80,000 babies with 78,000 women.” A third fan questioned whether Nick having “1000 kids” has allowed him to find the power he was seeking.
Mariah hasn’t responded publicly to Nick’s latest remarks. And like he mentioned, she is one of the world’s biggest stars, so it’s unclear if she ever will. However, if she did choose to entertain him, she’d surely be doing him a favor.
