Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce were reunited this week. As Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs played a Monday Night Football game against Tampa Bay, Jason was there as part of the MNF broadcast team. The reunion came just days after Jason made headlines for defending his younger brother from a Penn State fan who used a homophobic slur to describe the KC tight end amid his romance with singer Taylor Swift. The brothers opened up about the situation during their podcast this week.
In the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce revealed his thoughts on Jason Kelce’s encounter during his college football gameday experience over the weekend. It all started when a fan yelled out to Jason, using a slur to describe Travis, while also mentioning Taylor Swift. Jason got visibly angry and took the fans’ phone, slamming it to the ground. He later used the slur in a comeback to the heckler.
During Monday Night Football, Jason addressed the situation and apologized for the way he reacted while defending his family. Travis then made it clear that he had no hard feelings toward his brother, despite the fact that Jason used some regrettable language.
Travis Kelce Weighs In On Jason Kelce’s Shocking Fan Encounter
Travis Kelce added that he knows his brother isn’t a person who chooses to get aggressive. Meanwhile, Jason admitted that he was ready to “stop talking” about the “hateful” footage that made its rounds on the internet.
“You had some f–king clown come up to you talking about your family,” Travis said during the podcast. “You reacted in a way that was defending your family and you might have used some words that you regret using,” he continued.
“I know it’s weighing on you, brother. That s–t sucks. You shouldn’t feel this much. … Everybody passing around the videos is gonna make it a bigger situation than what it really is,” the Super Bowl champ added.
The brothers obviously have nothing but love for each other. During the podcast, they talked about an array of other issues. Travis opened up about watching Taylor Swift during her final Eras Tour stop in the United States. Of course, they also talked about the Kansas City Chiefs’ big win and other football news.
It appears that the Kelce brothers are ready to put the phone-throwing incident in the past. Elsewhere, sources told The Daily Mail that Travis and Taylor were a bit “shocked” by the incident after it occurred. However, Jason’s eagerness to defend his brother and the singer seems to make it clear that he respects Swift, and thinks of her as part of his family unit.
It’s likely that Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce will stay quiet about the incident going forward. There’s no need to drag it up time and time again now that it’s over. Sadly, it could prove to bring out other hecklers during the brothers’ public events in the future.
