Openly Racist Man Harasses Five Guys Staff: ‘Yeah, That’s Right. Insult the People Who Make Your Food’

At least he got his food order, right?

Another day, another racist man being unpleasant. While we’ve had a spate of bigoted individuals resorting to hateful and antagonistic behavior towards the public — like an enraged Karen in a car and a pepper-spraying Karen in an Uber — it’s less common to see racially motivated incidents in eateries or fast-food joints. These places, however, are sadly not as safe and sound from potential racist harassment as one would initially think. Case in point: an openly racist man harassed staff in Five Guys with derogatory slurs, and the fracas was shared recently to Reddit.

The video footage takes place in a Five Guys restaurant in the USA, and is recorded from the perspective of one of the workers in the establishment, who seems to have been subjected to some racial abuse before the camera has even started rolling. The employee asks the man and a woman who are waiting for their order behind the counter, “What’s your name, man? You calling me a beaner?” The man introduces himself as Chris Thompson, though it’s unclear whether this is in fact his real name. We’ll run with it, to help make things easier.

Firstly, Chris Thompson claims that the workers in the kitchen were saying some unsavory remarks. “You f***ing boys were hollering white power,” exclaims Thompson. “Were we hollering white power? You called me a beaner,” retorts the Five Guys worker.

“Give me my f***ing food, bro.” requests Thompson. While the incident continues to escalate, the lady with Thompson begins to film the ruckus. The Five Guys worker does begin to antagonise the man, saying, “You’re so bad. You’re so cool. You’re such a badass.“

Thompson starts pointing at the employee, stating: “You’re gonna be fired. Keep it up. Give me my f***ing food and cut the bulls**t.” The confrontation continues as the Five Guys employee loses his patience and calls the man a “pu**y“, while repeatedly saying, “You called me a beaner.“

Shortly later, the employee hands over the man’s order, and this is when we see Thompson’s true colors on camera: “F**k you, you f**ing beaners!” yells Thompson at the Five Guys staff pointing his finger at the cameraman. The final parts of the clip devolve into a shouting contest between the staff and the racist man, but thankfully, there is no physical altercation.

While the shocking clip is making the rounds on social media right now, the internet was quick to flood the comment section with their thoughts on the incident.

Yeah, that’s right. Insult the people who make your food. Moron

Others chimed in, surprised by how overtly racist the man was, with one Redditor penning: “I love my racists in the open“. Meanwhile, some commenters were startled that the racist man’s partner appeared to be of Asian descent, with one user, expressing: “Asian wife is the cherry on top“.

While it’s fortunate that no one was physically hurt in the commotion, it’s safe to say that the workers in the Five Guys restaurant conducted themselves well, considering the racial abuse that they were subjected to. Really, they were well within their right to refuse service to this racist patron, who was clearly being incredibly insulting and rude. At least he got his food order, right?
