In recent months, Beyoncé has become more active on social media, and her 314 million Instagram followers have taken note. Her posts have been a mix of things, ranging from her cool outfit choices to more personal posts that give a glimpse into the superstar’s life. She has also been a passionate supporter of current Vice President and election hopeful Kamala Harris.
The “Texas Hold Em’” singer has made several posts showing her support for Harris in the build-up to the Nov. 5 elections. She has also endorsed Harris and attended rallies in her favor. While there may be some ambiguity about who other celebrities supported in this election, there was no mistaking that Beyoncé was undeniably Team Harris. Of course, politics is a controversial subject, and sharing your views can alienate fans. The comments on the entertainer’s recent post (a collection of photos, including several snaps of Bey wearing a T-shirt with Harris’ face on it and gold nails that read “vote”) have been overwhelmingly negative.
Fans Slam Beyoncé For Her Endorsement Of Kamala Harris
It is evident from the comments that many Beyoncé fans are unhappy with how she handled herself ahead of the 2024 United States election. There have been claims that she is out of touch, that she is tone-deaf, and that the Democrats have abandoned those who are not wealthy. “Girl bye u got paid 10 million to endorse her. When was the last time you went to the grocery store? You don’t care about women or black people,” a comment reads.
“You may go to sleep now Beyonce. It didn’t work,” another person wrote in response to Beyoncé’s campaign efforts. “America is tired and we don’t care what celebrities think anymore,” another person shared.
Others have also been critical of Beyoncé for telling fans who to vote (although this is not restricted to just the singer; many celebrities have publicly shown their support for either Harris or Donald Trump). “The Democrats have abandoned the working class, and you’re completely out of touch. Families are struggling just to afford groceries, and here you are, sitting in your $20 million home, telling us who to vote for? Are you serious?” an angry comment reads.
Bey receiving angry comments on social media is not new. Earlier this year, she and her husband, Jay Z, became the topic of much discussion after Jaguar Wright made allegations against them while appearing on British television host Piers Morgan’s show, Uncensored. The host later issued an apology, which is not something he often does. Regardless of how people feel about Bey, it’s challenging for celebrities to know whether to support candidates publicly or to stay silent, as Kim Kardashian was recently criticized for not reading the room and staying quiet.
