Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are two of the funniest celebrities out there. They’re always poking fun at each other on social media. After spending so much time with them, it seems the couple’s witty humor has rubbed off on one of their closest friends: Taylor Swift. Earlier this year, the singer jokingly called Reynolds her “godkids’ sperm donor” while promoting his Marvel film, Deadpool & Wolverine. If you’re wondering what the actor thought of her comment, he luckily gave Swift his stamp of approval.
Taylor Swift’s “Sperm Donor” Joke Praised by Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds mentioned the pop star during a recent interview with Deadline. He was reacting to some of the biggest headlines surrounding the superhero film when the topic of Taylor Swift’s “sperm donor” joke came up. “I’m going to need that on my gravestone,” he said.
The Deadpool & Wolverine actor then revealed that Swift’s comment wasn’t just a joke because she really is the godmother of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children. The couple has daughters named James, Inez, and Betty, as well as a son named Olin. However, Swift is only godmother to the three girls. Since Olin was just born last year, they may make Swift their son’s godmother when he’s a bit older.
It wouldn’t be surprising considering the couple is so close with the singer. In fact, the trio is so inseparable that many fans had hoped Swift would make a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. They also speculated she would attend the film’s premiere. Unfortunately, none of those theories actually came true. It’s most likely because Swift was too busy focusing on her Eras Tour this summer.
While she couldn’t support Ryan Reynolds’ movie in person, she did promote it online. In an Instagram Story, Swift called Reynolds one of her “best friends.” She praised his latest Marvel project by calling it “the best work of his life.” The singer encouraged all of her fans to go check out Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters. She then ended her post by giving a “shout out” to Reynolds’ character, Wade Wilson, “aka my godkids’ sperm donor!”
During his Deadline interview, Reynolds said it was “very sweet” of Swift to support his film so publicly online. If you want to see what else he had to say about the singer, be sure to check out the video below.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now streaming on Disney+ as of Tuesday, Nov. 12.
