Rachel Zegler believes she might have gone too far in her dislike of Donald Trump. Like most of Hollywood, the actress took to social media to lament the 2024 Presidential election results. Zegler’s remark, however, landed her in hot water for being too divisive. Now, she is taking back her words and issuing a heartfelt apology.
More than a week after wishing that Trump and his followers would have no peace, Zegler took to her Instagram Story to clear the air. The actress revealed she didn’t mean to incite further hate, given the current political climate. “I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week. I let my emotions get the best of me,” she confessed. Expanding on the situation, the Snow White star wrote:
“Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.”
Concluding her apology, the 23-year-old noted the past week was “emotional,” but she “firmly” believes “everyone has the right to their opinion, even when it differs from my own.” Zegler then vowed to contribute positively “toward a better tomorrow.” Recall that last week, in a now-deleted post, the Shazam star called Trump’s victory “a deep sickness in this country, adding, “I find myself speechless in the midst of this. May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”
In the lengthy rant, the New Jersey native lamented raising her daughter in a world she doesn’t want to live in. She then described people supporting Trump as “a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, masculinity, intelligence, patriotism, and humanity.” Zegler didn’t also hesitate to take a jab at Elon Musk, Trump’s biggest supporter, saying she no longer uses X.
Megyn Kelly Calls For Disney To Fire Rachel Zegler
As expected, Zegler’s post didn’t sit well the millions of MAGA fans worldwide. Many took online to express their disgust, declaring that they would boycott Zegler’s 2025 Snow White remake. “Not taking my kids to see this trash after the statement you put out. Disney, you need to do something about this,” one fan wrote.
“Disney’s #SnowWhite is going to be the biggest flop of 2024, and #RachelZegler will cement herself as Box Office Poison,” a second comment read. However, Megyn Kelly of Fox News was Zegler’s biggest critic, slamming the actress on an episode of her Ruthless podcast. Calling out Disney, the political commentator said, “There’s something wrong with this person. Hello, Disney, you’re going to have to redo your film again because this woman is a pig.”
Kelly then referenced Gina Carano’s termination from Disney’s The Mandalorian in 2021 after she compared the treatment of conservatives in the U.S. to the Holocaust. “Picture this: a Broadway actress who said, ‘F Biden supporters, may Biden and Kamala never know peace.’ That person would be fired so fast it would make your head spin,” an angry Kelly lashed out.
Despite the heavy criticism, Disney is yet to issue a statement on the situation.
