Many bashed him for claiming the feds edited his infamous assault video to make him look dangerous. Before his scheduled bail hearing on Friday, November 22, Diddy’s lawyers filed new arguments about his case.
They accused prosecutors of mischaracterizing and concealing critical facts to make the rapper seem illegible for bail. Pat of prosecutors’ alleged tampering, per Diddy’s reps, was the viral 2016 video of him attacking his ex Cassie. The singer was the first woman to accuse the rapper of years-long abuse, winning millions worth in settlement.
The gruesome surveillance video proved the abuse claims Cassie highlighted in her case; however, Diddy’s reps begged to differ. They claimed prosecutors edited the clip’s sequence of events to offer their “most powerful evidence of danger and obstruction.” Diddy claimed the video was not evidence of a coerced “freak off” or sex trafficking. Instead, it was a “sad glimpse into a decade-long consensual relationship.” As for what happened between him and Cassie, he alleged it was:
“A domestic dispute in which he ran down the hall of the hotel to recover his clothes and cellphone.”
Diddy’s defense continued with arguments that the violence in the clip did not happen. He stressed that he did not “drag” Cassie down the hall, nor did he throw a vase at her. The rapper claimed he only threw the vase’s contents at his ex-girlfriend. Diddy hoped his new arguments would show that he was not as dangerous as prosecutors painted him to be. He believed they deliberately tarnished his image so the judge would keep him behind bars without bail, per TMZ.
Fans Slam Diddy’s Video Editing Claims as Desperate and Ridiculous
The Bad Boy Records founder’s attempt to secure bail earned him backlash on social media platforms like X. Many found his arguments hilarious and desperate, with someone noting he was “grasping at straws.” They continued:
“This man is extremely dangerous, and the crazy part is we, the public, don’t even know half of it or what other ‘celebrities’ are dangerous too.”
Another found Diddy’s edited video argument ridiculous, wondering, “Which part did they alter?? Him kicking her in her face or him dragging her back to the room cuz…[ROFL emojis].” A third claimed Diddy has done worse than what was depicted in the surveillance video. The fan advised him to give up on regaining his freedom, with a fourth echoing similar sentiments.
The X user noted that the rapper’s response proved he could not be “rehabilitated back into society.” More fans mocked Diddy’s argument, with someone joking, “I only struck her 11 times judge, this sh-ts on loop!” An X user declared the music mogul’s arguments did not matter since he committed the crime against Cassie.
