An insider revealed that Jessica has found quite the support system in her younger sister amid this difficult time. “Jessica’s needing advice and support, and Ashlee’s being there for her, picking up the phone when Jessica calls, taking Jessica shopping, and volunteering to look after the kids,” the source explained. However, the 40-year-old has also been offering her big sister some great relationship advice. Ashlee has been married to Evan Ross — Diana Ross’ son— for ten years, and together they share share three children. The Irresistible singer reportedly envies her sister’s relationship and “thinks they’ve got it figured out.” Hence why she looks to Ashlee to keep her grounded about her marriage, despite how complicated things are with Johnson. The informant further explained to Life&Style:
“Ashlee has that street-smart edge, and she knows a few things. Ashlee is listening but she’s also reminding Jessica of Eric’s good qualities and giving Jessica a lot of food for thought.”
It comes as no surprise that Ashlee is rooting for her sister’s marriage. Just last month, the Melrose Place actress shut down the rumors of a divorce in style. While out and about in LA, she was approached by the paparazzi. “Ashlee, fans are speculating that Jessica might be looking to get a divorce from her recent Instagram post,” the reporter asked. “Do you know anything about it? Is it true? Do you know?” She simply answered, “no.”

Reports of Ashlee’s help comes after previous sources revealed what went wrong in Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson’s marriage. While social media points accusing fingers at the Dukes of Hazzard star, an insider alleged that the former NFL player might have been the problematic partner.
Eric has often left Jessica alone at night to go out partying at bars,” the insider told The Sun. “He didn’t ever seem to care if anyone recognized him or not. She is sober now, so that’s not her scene at all.“
The retired athlete was even spotted at a hip bar often visited by young people and he didn’t wear a ring. Unfortunately, the separate interests have only weakened their marital bond. “It’s no secret in Hollywood that they have been drifting apart for a long time,” the source added.
