Aaron Rodgers just called out his NFL peers for not taking security measures seriously. During a chat with reporters on Wednesday, the Jets quarterback mentioned the security detail the NFL has for players who want to utilize it. According to Rodgers, he used the program years ago, and it includes “security experts” who can analyze your home. They alert owners of the “weak spots” and what they can do to make their place more secure. However, Aaron said many of his colleagues aren’t using it.
“I think guys, in general, just don’t use it because they don’t have the time, or they’re thinking about other things, or they’re busy playing video games or whatever it is,” he said. “But there’s a lot of great resources that the league puts together. I think more guys should probably look at as far as the safety of their homes.”
Joe Burrow: an Emotional Wreck After House Break-In
Aaron Rodgers’ comments about security aren’t out of the blue. On Monday, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was the victim of a house break-in. According to details, robbers smashed a window and ransacked a room in his home while he was busy facing off against the Dallas Cowboys. During a press conference, Joe addressed the noise, and he wasn’t flattered.
“So obviously, everybody has heard what has happened. I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one,” he said. “And way more is already out there than I would want out there and that I care to share, so that’s all I got to say about that.”
After news broke about Joe’s burglary, details also leaked that he had a woman staying inside of his home during the time. According to the report, that woman was influencer Olivia Ponton.
When asked if Joe was frustrated by the details released, he said that was “part of it.”
“We live a public life, and one of my least favorite parts of it is the lack of privacy. And that has been difficult for me to deal with my entire career. Still learning. But I understand it’s the life that we choose. Doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.”
Olivia’s mother made the initial call to the police on Monday night.
“Someone is trying to break into the house right now,” Ponton’s mother told the dispatcher. “My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She is staying there. He’s at the football game.”
Other Athletes Are Being Targeted
Aaron Rodgers’ statement about security wasn’t just directed at Joe. According to several reports, Kansas City Chiefs players, including Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, have also been targeted. When he addressed the moment, the quarterback called it “frustrating” and “disappointing.”
“I can’t get into too many of the details because the investigation is still ongoing. But obviously, it’s something that you don’t want to happen to, really, anybody but obviously yourself.”
As for Travis, inside sources told publications that the football player and his popstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, stayed at a downtown hotel following his break-in. Additionally, they revealed Swift and Kelce’s security detail “wasn’t playing around.”
NBA player Bobby Portis was also the victim of a break-in recently. He posted a statement online in November, asking for help.
“I am offering a $40,000 reward for any info that directly leads to the return of my items,” he wrote on Instagram.
