Wendy Williams fans are concerned about the former daytime talk show host after she was spotted out and about this weekend. Her appearance in Ft. Lauderdale followed reports that her court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey stated in court documents that Williams was “permanently incapacitated.” However, fans disagree with that assessment, based on Williams’ latest public appearance.
Guardian Labels Wendy ‘Permanently Incapacitated’
Fans have been heartbroken to see the downfall of Wendy Williams. The Wendy Williams Show first aired on July 14, 2008 in select locations. One year later, it expanded to a nationwide show. Williams became known for her no-nonsense approach to discussing some of the hot topics in the entertainment industry.
Like everyone else, Williams struggled to keep up after the COVID-19 pandemic. While she was excited to be back in the studio, things were never the same. The final episode of The Wendy Williams Show aired on June 17, 2022. Shockingly, Williams was nowhere to be seen during the last taping.
Over the years, Wendy Williams has been open with her fans about the struggles she’s faced. She has talked about struggling with drug use. After fainting on-air in 2017, she also opened up about her Graves disease diagnosis. Then, suddenly, it seemed like she dropped off the face of the planet.
That is, until Lifetime’s docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? was released. The Williams everyone show in the four-part series was not the vibrant, funny woman they remembered though. Shortly before its release, it was revealed that Williams received a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. It was heartbreaking for fans to hear.
Since its release in February, the Lifetime documentary has been highly controversial, with many people suggesting that producers took advantage of Williams to get footage. Sabrina Morrissey has been pushing that rhetoric in court recently, with her most recent filings claiming that Williams was “permanently incapacitated” by her dementia diagnosis.
According to court docs obtained by The Sun, Morrissey stated, “Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life.”
The documents continued, saying she’s “afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”
Wendy Williams Fans Question Her Health Status
She also claims that Williams was not able to consent to filming. The producers have opposed what Morrissey is claiming, stating that she signed off on allowing the documentary to take place.
Hearing that Wendy Williams is “permanently incapacitated” by her disease had many people devastated. However, her latest public outing has people questioning, once again, if the court-appointed guardian has Williams’ best interests in mind.
In a clip shared on Instagram, Williams is sitting in the back of a car while she picks up some food outside a popular spot in Ft. Lauderdale. When greeted with her own famous catchphrase, “How you doin’?” she smiled.
After seeing the footage of the beloved talk show host out and about, fans couldn’t believe how good Wendy Williams looked.
“She doesn’t look or sound permanently incapacitated that’s crazy to wish that on her that is heartbreaking for her fans ❤️🙏🏾,” one person commented on the Instagram video.
Another commenter chimed in, “She doesn’t look or sound ‘permanently incapacitated’. Something is super off with this whole mess.” A third fan agreed, “She looks almost ready for her purple chair,” referring to Williams’ famous purple chair where she hosted her talk show.
No one in Wendy Williams’ family or friend circle has confirmed that the video is recent, but one thing is for certain. Fans were thrilled to see her looking herself.
