The one thing that doubles the joy of playing a Call of Duty Zombies map beside a cool easter egg, is having a memorable boss fight. Taking down a giant foe wasn’t the fashion of this game mode prior to Black Ops 3. And while some of the Call of Duty Zombies boss fights are less than a walk in the park, a few of them are among the hardest co-op gaming experiences we’ve ever had!
5. The Guardian – Citadelle des Morts
Number 5 on our list here is The Guardian from Black Ops 6‘s Citadelle des Morts. This map is one of the hardest for going on high rounds and with The Guardian as its boss fight, Treyarch has literally said we’ve heard all the easy Zombies comments, so there you go then.
The Guardian is a statue with a giant hammer matching its size. His attacks are not so crazy; he smashes the ground, stomps you, and creates a line of magma on the ground. What makes this one of the hardest boss fights in Call of Duty Zombies, however, is that on each phase you fight, the arena gets smaller, up to the point where there’s no space to dodge the zombies and the boss at the same time.
4. Pegasus – Ancient Evil
You help the Pegasus free and it helps you reach Mount Olympus; yay! But there should not be a heaven in Call of Duty Zombies without someone burning the scene. So, right where Kratos claimed Zeus’ life, you’ll be fighting the Zombified version of the Pegasus and its master.
Pegasus is a flying target and you need to shoot it precisely when it’s above the land you’re on. So if it falls down the mountain, it’ll rise again not giving you the momentum to deal any damage. Not to mention that Perseus, the steed master, also throws fire at you, so you’ll be dealing with multiple enemies in this boss fight. Yes, including zombies as well.
3. Dragon and Nikolai – Gorod Krovi
Gorod Krovi has one of the hardest easter eggs to complete, and on top of that, you’ll have two separate boss fights to take on. First is the dragon, which sets the whole area on fire, meaning that you’ll go down if your shield gets broken. But the dragon is nothing but a bullet sponge, and you’ll take it out if you manage to shoot the critical spots on his body.
Up next is our good old Nikolai from the Ultimis! Our drunk comrade isn’t too happy with our presence here, and it’s so damn hard to deal with his varied attacks. Get any closer to the boss, and he’ll stomp you in an ant-vs-boot fashion. Not to mention that he also has a beefy HP to deal with unless you’ve got some meta guns in your arsenal, like the Ray Gun Mark III or something.
2. Greylorm – MWZ
Just because the game wasn’t good doesn’t mean that a boss fight in it is going to be easy. The Greylorm, aka the Red Worm in MWZ, is a secret boss that you can only activate by finding four rare USB drives and then waiting until the Aether storm passes the area. You’ll then have less than 15 minutes to take down a giant worm and deal with a horde of overpowered zombies!
If your gas mask breaks, you’re dead. If zombies surround you, you’re dead. If you don’t dodge Red Worm’s laser attacks, you’re dead. Also if you manage to kill the boss and not reach an exfil, you’re dead. This is how you sprint against the odds.
1. The Legion – Outbreak
Tons of special zombies, runners, and a triple x large boss that brings hell upon you. But this isn’t a new thing in Call of Duty Zombies, as lots of other boss fights have all these features to claim the title of the hardest. However, does any of them have a 10-minute timer?
The Legion is a multiphase boss fight in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, where you simply can not kill the monster by just spam-shooting the target. It’s got weak spots, and once you take its shield down, you’ll be able to actually deal some damage to it by shooting down an orb. But you have to do this 3 times, which is why it’s time-consuming. Good luck doing all that in under 10 minutes.
