The release of Jennifer Lopez‘s Unstoppable movie is just on the horizon. The film hits Prime Video next month. To celebrate, Lopez held a screening of the film for some lucky fans over the weekend. During the event, the star opened up about the project in an interview with Variety‘s Senior Awards Editor, Clayton Davis. The discussion was meant to highlight her acting career and other achievements. However, things took a turn when Lopez was asked about her age. The moment shocked fans so much that they audibly gasped. It was so awkward that even Lopez appeared momentarily taken aback.
Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Unstoppable’ Interview Goes Wrong?
It all started when Davis brought up Selena. The 1997 film, which earned Jennifer Lopez a Golden Globe nomination, marked the popstar’s big acting breakthrough. Since the 30-year anniversary of its release is getting close, the host decided to ask Lopez about the milestone, as well as her thoughts on getting older. “I can’t believe it’s [almost] been 30 years since Selena,” Davis said. “You will be 60 by then.”
According to the Daily Mail, Lopez seemed stunned by the comment by responding with a simple “Wow.” Despite this, the interviewer continued by joking that Lopez was “getting up there” in age. “I am,” the actress agreed.
The audience didn’t seem impressed by the talk of Jennifer Lopez’s age. They reacted with audible gasps and one person even asked, “Did he just say that?”
Was the Singer Offended?
Luckily, Jennifer Lopez wasn’t too phased. The “Dinero” singer took things in stride by taking the opportunity to reflect on her career. “What a journey this has been,” she said. “I honestly feel that the best is yet to come.”
The star certainly has a lot to be proud of. Over the past year, Lopez has released several huge projects, including her musical film This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, as well as her sci-fi action flick Atlas. Soon, she’ll also take over Prime Video with her Unstoppable movie. The film, which hits the platform on Thursday, Jan. 16, is a sports drama based on Anthony Robles’ 2012 autobiography. It features a star-studded cast consisting of Jharrel Jerome, Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle, and Shawn Hatosy.
The Unstoppable movie was directed by William Goldenberg and produced by Lopez’s ex-husband, Ben Affleck.
