Meghan Markle hatches a plot to attain independence from Prince Harry, leading to their professional separation amid divorce rumors. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been engrossed in divorce rumors, spurred mostly by their preference for taking separate career paths in recent times. More recently, the 40-year-old embarked on a trip to New York earlier this month to appear at The New York Times Dealbook Summit. The trip marks the latest in his line of solo visits amid his professional separation from his wife Meghan. Meanwhile, the Duchess attended The Paley Center for Media’s fall gala in Beverly Hills that same week, going solo to the event.
Their activities revived speculations that the couple was on the verge of drifting apart. While that may not be the case in their marital lives, the two appear to pursue complete independence from each other in their professional lives. One insider weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s independent ventures, confirming they were indeed leading separate lives amid the divorce rumors.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Favor Professional Separation Despite Initial Tension
The insider explained that contrary to the public perception of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s long-distance relationship as a big deal, the couple had little concerns. The source went on to suggest that this move to separate professionally was the Duchess’ idea, and she’s managed to lure her husband into complying. They quipped,
“Meghan got tired of always being super independent, which has caused some tension. But now she and Harry are on the same page.”
Another source explained the duo’s plans to stay connected as a family as they commence independent career paths. According to the source, Harry and Meghan “can be apart without any jealousy.” Yet, the Sussexes understood how crucial it was to stay together as a family. In their bid to stay tuned to each other, the prince makes an effort to FaceTime his wife every night whenever he is away. In return, Meghan Markle endeavored to send Prince Harry “little love notes,” ultimately keeping the spark alive and preventing a potential divorce.
As for their lurking divorce rumors, the father-of-two previously debunked them as baseless. While appearing at The New York Times Dealbook Summit on December 5, journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin quizzed Harry about the long-prevailing divorce rumors. After acknowledging it was indeed “not a good thing,” Prince Harry proceeded to chide trolls spreading the false claim and anticipating his divorce from Meghan Markle. He divulged,
“The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls who, their hopes are just built and built and built so its like ‘yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them, I genuinely do, I mean that.”
Despite the divorce buzz, Harry and Meghan have continued enjoying life as a family of four alongside kids, Archie and Lilibeth. Meanwhile, his rift with the rest of the royal family prevails. For another consecutive year, the royals excluded Harry from their annual Christmas celebrations at Sandringham despite extending invitations to his cousins Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, and their respective spouses. Harry doesn’t seem bothered though as he anticipates a cozy holiday season with his wife and kids.
