Kim Kardashian‘s “Santa Baby” cover has arrived. Yes, you read that right. The star actually dropped her own rendition of the classic holiday hit. She enlisted help from a few famous friends to make that happen. Not only did Kardashian have her brother-in-law, Travis Barker, produce the track, but she also brought in Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin to appear in her song’s music video. Since releasing her cover, fans have only had one question on their minds: When did she make music?
Considering she’s primarily known as a reality star and businesswoman, it may be hard to believe that Kim Kardashian is also a singer, but it’s true. In March 2011, she unveiled her debut single, “Jam (Turn It Up).” The dance-pop track is available to stream on Spotify. For years, it’s been the only song by her on the platform.
However, that all changed on Monday, Dec. 23, when Kardashian made her music comeback with a cover of “Santa Baby.” According to the song’s Spotify credits, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker produced the song and released it through his record label, DTA Records.
To accompany the cover, Kim Kardashian dropped a lo-fi music video for the track featuring her in a blonde wig. During the clip, the star crawls around a house as a strange Christmas party happens around her. Guests include elves, a dancing cheerleader, half-naked girls, a bodybuilder, a nun, Jesus, and Mary. Home Alone‘s Macaulay Culkin even shows up dressed as Santa.
Kim Kardashian’s ‘Santa Baby’ Criticized By Fans
Fans had a lot of thoughts on the video. Unfortunately, many criticized it for being “weird.”
“I am so confused. Kim what are you doing?” one person asked. “This left me feeling quite uncomfortable,” another fan wrote. “I lost every last one of my brain cells trying to watch this,” another comment read.
A lot of fans were also scratching their heads at her singing. “I did NOT know Kim Kardashian made music,” one fan said. They even joked that she must be “bored” because her song came out of nowhere.
While Kim Kardashian’s return to music is certainly a surprise, she did tease her comeback on a previous episode of The Kardashians. During the show’s third season, the star was seen recording a cover of “Santa Baby” in an episode. Now, she finally dropped it.
Could this mean Kardashian may have other secret music projects up her sleeve? Honestly, when it comes to her, fans should expect the unexpected.
