Beyonce put on a rocking Christmas Day performance, and her fans are still reeling about it. However, as to be expected, there were just as many critics. In case you weren’t aware, Beyonce has gotten much pushback since February 2024. After she released her country single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” fans of the genre flooded social media to share their opinions. But it didn’t stop there. Following the release of her chart-topping album, Cowboy Carter, even more hate came Beyonce’s way. The 32x Grammy Award-winning singer performed tracks from the project for the first time on Christmas Day. The live performance garnered 27 million viewers, but some were not impressed.

Following Beyonce’s groundbreaking Christmas Day performance, her fans noticed the negative feedback spiraling online. On X, one user called the 13-minute production, which featured live vocals and intense choreography, “boring” and “pointless.” Someone else seemed to agree, writing that the “Crazy In Love” singer should “stick to the hits.” Despite Queen Bey’s fresh vocal arrangements, full marching band, background dancers, and country-inspired dance moves, they went on, saying Beyonce needs to “bring something fresh” to the stage.

Racism.
Racist human beings don't want to see a Black person singing country music.
They Believe That's Their Genre.

After noticing the commentary surrounding her performance, some Beyonce fans questioned why the singer has been getting so much hate. In case you need a refresher, this isn’t the first time they’ve defended the singer against Nashville and the country music industry. The BeyHive laid into country superstar Luke Combs earlier this year after he made unsavory comments about her No. 1 album. “… just because I made one doesn’t mean I get nominations. A lot of great music is overlooked. Sometimes you don’t get nominated.” On X, one user shared why they believe Beyonce, who was born in Houston, Texas, hasn’t been celebrated by other country artists and fans. “Racism,” they said. “Racist human beings don’t want to see a Black person singing country music.”

Beyonce fans aren’t the only ones defending the singer. On Instagram, her mother, Tina Knowles, also clapped back at the trolls. “It is mind-boggling to me that you would take your precious Christmas Day and watch a performance of someone you hate and you don’t think has talent so that you can go talk ish about it later,” she said. Kandi Burruss, a Grammy Award-winning singer, commented on the post, giving Beyonce her flowers. “[She] was AMAZING! We’re not acknowledging anybody saying anything different.”

And they aren’t alone. Even before Beyonce took the stage to perform what they’re now calling the Beyonce Bowl, some country legends praised her music. “Her album was brilliant [and] her single ruled,” Billy Ray Cyrus said in November. Lainey Wilson said country music is about “storytelling” in February 2024, “and Beyonce knows how to tell a story.” She continued: “Everybody wants to feel at home, and country music makes you feel at home. So Beyonce, come on home, girl!”
