Diablo 4 Lead Asks if the Game is ‘Too Fast, Too Slow, or Just Right’ in Poll but Players are Still Torn

Okay Goldilocks

Diablo 4‘s lead developer has recently asked players in a survey whether they like the game now or if it still needs a lot of improvement. This comes after the recent release of Diablo 4 Season 7, which has overhauled many of the game’s progression hoops and fundamentals. The poll’s results, however, paint a rather tricky situation for Diablo 4 and its future seasons.

The lead Diablo 4 dev in question is none other than Rod Fergusson, also serving as the Diablo 4 General Manager. Fergusson took to X/Twitter recently and posted a poll on how players feel about Diablo 4‘s progression with three choices: “Too Fast, Too Slow, or Just Right.” Now that the dust has settled, the results are a bit of a head-scratcher.

Another non-binding, GM is just curious poll –

Out of the 3,200 players who participated in the quick poll, the majority is split between “Too fast” and “Just right,” with nearly 40 percent of all the votes on each. Meanwhile, the “Too slow” crowd isn’t exactly an insignificant number.

Which Crowd to Please?

Suffice it to say, around 40 percent of Diablo 4 players are satisfied with the game’s current state (for progression), while the majority are not (around 60 percent) or find it too fast to savor or be rewarding. Granted, the poll is non-binding and likely won’t affect future adjustments.

Progression, for starters, could either refer to the leveling process from 1-100, which players have to do each season, or the process of collecting the best gear. It appears many are craving for a slower grind, perhaps so they don’t run out of milestones or goals to tick off too fast and to keep themselves busy for the rest of the Diablo 4 season, which usually lasts three months, give or take.

Some of the busier players no doubt prefer the faster progression because of the lesser playing time they have, while those with more time on their hands could prefer slower progression; otherwise they’ll run out of Diablo 4 for the current season. Surprisingly, “pro gamer” and avid ARPG cheater Elon Musk has even chimed in on the discussion about the Diablo 4 poll.

Seems about right
