The Elder Scrolls 6 Rumored To Be ‘Hammerfell’ and Will Have Shipbuilding Like Starfield, but These Details Made Hardcore Fans Skeptical

Hammer-full of speculation

It’s been nearly seven years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced at E3 2018, and fans are still waiting for something — anything — beyond that 30-second teaser. Since then speculations have run wild, with every minor mention of the series sending fans into a frenzy. But now, a fresh leak has surfaced, claiming that the long-awaited sequel could finally be revealed in July 2025. Alongside the potential showcase, new details about the game’s features like naval combat also emerged. However, some details end up making fans who scrutinize The Elder Scrolls 6 lore skeptical of the Hammerfell leak.

The news came from a leaker called eXtas1stv, who said that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be titled Hammerfell. Set in High Rock, Tamriel’s northwesternmost province, it’s bringing an expansive world filled with ’12 to 13 major cities.’ Allegedly, the game will also feature naval battles, shipbuilding, explorable islands, and even underwater exploration, no doubt inspired by Bethesda’s own massive sci-fi adventure Starfield.

On top of that, dragons will reportedly return after their appearance in Skyrim. The progression system will also be even more ‘flexible’ than its predecessors, completely ditching traditional class-based gameplay.

eXtas1stv said that he ‘trusts’ this The Elder Scrolls 6 Hammerfell rumor as it comes from Colt Eastwood. Eastwood himself is a YouTuber who has 1.7 million subscribers running a gaming podcast called Xbox News Cast.

While eXtas1stv has covered numerous Xbox leaks before, hardcore Bethesda fans aren’t convinced. Some believe The Elder Scrolls VI Hammerfell leak is rehashing long-standing rumors, while others argue that many of the so-called ‘new’ features aren’t actually new.

For instance, Skyrim already abandoned classes and Birthsigns from Oblivion, making the supposed ‘flexible system’ claim feel redundant.

Additionally, 2Dement3D on Reddit pointed out that Hammerfell and High Rock originally had 16 cities in The Elder Scrolls: Arena. This means Bethesda would need to cut several places for lore reasons; a surprising departure from past games. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim all added new locations from previous entries rather than removing them.

Fans also question whether Bethesda could realistically pull off everything this leak promises. With naval battles and a bigger world than older games, this entry sounds almost too ambitious. Some worry the regions will be filled with procedurally generated islands and cities, like Starfield‘s thousands of planets.

The last red flag? The supposed July 2025 reveal. If Bethesda is planning a major showcase, it would probably happen during Xbox’s June event, not an unexplained mid-summer drop.

A usual reminder, always take leaks with a grain of salt. After all, unless a massive data breach occurs, people could make up information for internet clout. We will have to wait and see if July — or June — brings the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls VI Hammerfell reveal.
