Assassin’s Creed: Origins releases next week and from what we’ve seen thus far, it will serve as somewhat of a soft reboot, introducing a lot of different mechanics and RPG elements. The games official launch trailer released earlier this week, showing off a bunch of those new features, alongside other exciting gameplay elements.

Chariot races, epic battles, ancient animals and a vast land in which to explore are just a few of the things that make up an action-packed launch trailer. More than anything the trailer shows off that Assassin’s Creed: Origins is going to be a bloody romp, especially during battles in the Colosseum.

The trailer does a good job of displaying the games upcoming main character, Bayek, a bit more before gamers are formally introduced as well. So far Ubisoft has revealed that the protagonist’s motives are to save the land from a corrupt pharaoh, but we also see his devotion to founding the Brotherhood and a love interest in the video as well.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Old time version of Hyenas, crocodiles, and elephants will have a part to play in Assassin’s Creed: Origins as well, as Bayek isn’t simply battling the evils of Egypt, but mother nature too.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins will be the first game released in the franchise since Ubisoft took a one-year hiatus from their normal yearly release cycle back in 2015. For the last four years, the team behind the acclaimed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has taken their time crafting the upcoming Egyptian installment, so it should be interesting to see if the extra time can help it break the formulaic mold that the Assassin’s Creed series has found itself in recently.
