After the excellent additions of Ways of War, Triumph Studios is preparing for the next step in Age of Wonders 4, which is the Giant Kings expansion. As with previous expansions, you can expect a plethora of additions to the game. From a new culture to new tomes, and new landmark regions, this major update promises to be one of the biggest we’ve had in the game. And fortunately, its release date isn’t far away.

Age of Wonders 4: Giant Kings Launches on April 1

The Giant Kings expansion for Age of Wonders 4 will launch on April 1, 2025. It will be available for all Expansion Pass 2 owners, but also as a standalone purchase for $24.99. As expected, there are many things coming with this major update, that will encourage many players to jump into these chaotic realms again. Here are some of the things that are arriving with the expansion’s launch:

  • Ruler Type: The Giant Kings. They can use unique terraforming capabilities and even have access to the item forge from the start of a match, which will be quite useful. There will also be the ability to unlock runes to create devastating weapons, so watching some builds for this ruler type will be interesting.
  • Crystal Dwelling: A new faction that will grant players access to a unique shop, which features new skills, magical equipment, and artifacts.
  • Landmark Regions: These massive new regions will provide players with many economic benefits once annexed.
  • Shop Structures: You’ll be able to encounter merchants across the map that will sell you many items, including mounts and weapons. However, you can also rob them, but it may affect your relationship with them in the future.
  • Tomes: Two new tomes will come to the game. The Tome of the Dungeon Depths specializes in underground building. You can summon Clay Soldiers to protect your lands and transform your provinces into dungeons. Lastly, the Tome of Geomancy is all about harnessing the powers of the earth and even turning your units into geomantic crystal beings.

On top of everything, players can also expect three new realms and a new realm template, two new Ancient Wonders, four new music tracks, and an interface skin to go with the expansion’s aesthetic. So, save the date for Age of Wonders 4: Giant Kings because, be it underground or above ground, we’ll all want to visit these realms again.
