Texas Dad Gets 18 Years In Prison After Adopted Daughter Dies Due To Trampoline Punishment in 110-Degree Heat: ‘Why Didn’t He Get a Life Sentence Without Parole?’

Not matching the cruel crime

Texas dad, Daniel Schwarz, is facing the consequences of his actions. In 2020, the 48-year-old and his wife, Ashley, caused the death of their adopted daughter, Jaylin. Five years later, justice is finally being served.

In a statement shared by the Ector County District Attorney on Facebook, Schwarz was sentenced to 18 years behind bars last week. The Texas dad pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the cruel death of his little daughter. Jaylin was only 8 years old when she passed away after being subjected to ill-treatment by Mr. Schwarz and his wife.

While Daniel will spend almost two decades in prison, his wife was sentenced to life in prison without parole. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice convicted her of capital murder. The Ector County District Attorney credited the success of the case to the hard work of the Odessa police.

The Schwarzs’ case began on August 29, 2020, after law enforcement responded to a medical emergency at their house. Upon arriving at the couple’s home, the Odessa police discovered their little girl dead. Further investigations into the case revealed they subjected the 8-year-old to an inhumane form of punishment.

The couple forced Jaylin to bounce outdoor on a trampoline in the blistering heat with a temperature estimated at 110 degrees. Worsening the condition, the duo ensured Jaylin had nothing to eat or drink while jumping on the trampoline for a long time.

The autopsy showed that Jaylin died from dehydration, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Internet Users Want A Heavier Jail Sentence For Daniel Schwarz

Unfortunately, Daniel Schwarz’s sentence has only sparked outrage from internet users. Many believed that the jail sentence was small compared to the gravity of the offence. One user expressed their concern, writing, “This is unacceptable. He tortured this child. He should have received life without the possibility of parole.”

Another netizen penned, “Why didn’t he get a life sentence without parole?” More Facebook users pointed out that the Texas dad’s sentence was unfair. The netizens highlighted that people with drug charges get longer sentences, so it was unfair that a murder charge got only an 18-year sentence.

A fourth commenter questioned the flaws in the criminal justice system. “How come people who murder others get such lenient sentences? They did something permanent —why allow parole?” they asked.

One other user lamented about justice not being served, as the dad had a hand in the death of the youngster. The user also suggested that the dad be made to serve life imprisonment with the same punishment he meted out to Jaylin.

Per People Magazine, the young girl’s obituary described her as “full of life.” She loved horseback riding, ice skating, and all things outdoors. Her other interests include animals, history, and science. May she rest in peace.
