A Sarasota park in Florida turned into the latest viral battleground for entitled behavior when two women aggressively confronted a mother over a child’s snack bag placed beside a public memorial bench. Captured on video and shared by The Sarasota Life Facebook page and the KarenLivesMatter YouTube channel, the footage has sparked outrage across social media.
The video shows two women berating the mother, insisting that placing a snack bag and water bottle near the bench was “disrespectful.” Despite the mother’s calm demeanor and explanation that she understood grief (being a mortician herself) the women escalated the situation. At one point, one of them even jabbed the mother multiple times in the back, an act now being called assault by viewers. Adding another disturbing layer, the victim is pregnant, making the aggression even more concerning.
The video’s caption reads:
Can anyone is Sarasota tell me who this woman is? She verbally attacked my friend and her kids because a bag of snacks was sitting next to a bench she donated to be used at Bayfront Park. (They were still using the bench and not finished with the bag). It was our last day visiting today and I am completely disgusted by this type of behavior. I would really like to find out a name to go with these 2. The name on the bench was Lisa Funsch. Couldn’t imagine donating something for a memory of someone and then treating people like this over it. The lady in the green/blue actually assaulted my friend when she took her finger and poked her several times in the back. She claimed to be an RN and I would like to know who her employer is as well. My friend is pregnant and was very stressed out from this encounter. Sorry if this is not allowed, I would just like this woman to face some consequences for her actions today.
The internet wasn’t shy in letting its feelings be known with respect to the Karens on the attack:
“If you don’t want the public to use something, don’t donate anything,” one Facebook commenter wrote. Another added, “This lady is clearly drunk and needs to be mentally evaluated.” Some questioned Funsch’s alleged profession, with one user commenting, “She claims to be an RN—imagine acting like this and being responsible for people’s care.”
The video has fueled calls for consequences, with many urging the city to remove the bench and demanding accountability for the woman’s behavior. Others, like user Austin Miller, even offered to replace the bench entirely, stating, “I’ll donate a replacement if they remove the bench and deliver it back to her house.”
As the video continues to gain traction, Sarasota locals are rallying to identify the second woman involved and hold both accountable. Meanwhile, the mother at the center of the incident is receiving widespread support for her composure under pressure.
