There are a total of nine different skills that can be maxed out in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Each of these skills can be leveled up individually to earn all sorts of newer skills to help your journey along Ashenfall. However, maxxing them out as fast as possible is definitely the way to go when you’ve got a poison Dragon Queen flying overhead.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds Skill Tree
The RuneScape: Dragonwilds skills are:
- Attack
- Magic
- Ranged
- Mining
- Woodcutting
- Artisan
- Construction
- Cooking
- Runecrafting
Each of these skills has the potential to reach level 99. However, in early access, neither of the skills has abilities up to that level, and some do not even have skill trees implemented yet.
Attack
So long as you are a melee expert, maxing your Attack should be no problem. Dragonwilds doesn’t attach you to a particular character build, so you can switch between attack, magic, and ranged. So, the easiest and fastest way to max out the early access version of Dragonwilds’ skill tree is just to use a melee weapon whenever you attack an enemy.
There are 11 current abilities within the Attack skill tree that grant you additional skills. These include:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
5 | Parry | When you block an attack at the last moment, parry instead. |
8 | Special Action | Unlocks additional special actions. |
11 | Tempest Shield | Conjure a Shielf of Air Magic using 15 Air Runes at a 60-second cooldown. |
16 | Weapon Expertise | Unlocks additional melee attacks. |
20 | Enchant Weapon: Fire | Enchant your weapon with fire using 15 Fire Runes and 5 Astral Runes at a 90-second cooldown. |
23 | Adaptability | Evading or blocking doesn’t interrupt combos. |
27 | Weapon Rack | Craft a Weapon Rack. |
30 | Enchant Weapon: Air | Enchant your weapon with fire using 15 Air Runes and 5 Astral Runes at a 90-second cooldown. |
34 | Lesser Potion of Attack | Unlock the ability to craft Whetstones at the Crafting Table. |
37 | Training Dummy | Unlock Training Dummy. |
40 | Whetstone | Unlock being able to craft Whetstones at the Crafting Table. |
Magic
Currently, Magic does not have any skill levels. So, there aren’t any skill levels to make a note of. The fastest way to max out your magic is to use a staff instead of a bow or melee weapon. Using this as your main weapon will gradually level up your magic, so when the game does implement its skill tree, you’ll already be ahead of many other players who didn’t bother to try.
Ranged
Ranged also doesn’t have a skill tree to follow. However, like other weapons, the fastest way to max this out is to use a ranged weapon. Just like magic, I recommend levelling up Ranged as much as possible to take advantage of all the abilities and additional skills you’ll earn from it.
Mining
Mining and Woodcutting are among the first skills you’ll easily be able to level up. This is because to even begin working on getting armor and weapons, you need to grab a few stones and do some mining. At the beginning of your experience, you’ll earn mining skill points just by picking up stones to build or craft things. Realistically, this is among my most levelled-up skills because I ensure to grab just about every stone I come across just for that little bit of additional EXP.
There are six total ability points that grant you additional mining skills, and these include:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
5 | Lift With Your Hips | the weight of some materials is reduced by 25%. |
11 | Rocksplosion | Break rocks apart with a power blast using 15 Earth Runes and 5 Fire Runes at a 45-second cooldown. |
16 | Gem Prospector | Mining ore can generate more gemstones. |
20 | Mine Crumbled Walls | Knock down crumbling walls with a pickaxe. |
24 | Detect Ore + Clay | Use the stone gos to help you find ores and clay with 5 Astral Runes and 5 Earth Runes at a ten-second cooldown. |
36 | Not-So-Heavy Metal | Metal ore weight is reduced by 25%. |
Woodcutting
Woodcutting is also incredibly easy to max out, as you must gather ash wood at the very beginning of the game. And, like mining, you earn additional EXP just by picking up wood from the floor. So, the fastest way to max out the skill is similar to mining in that you must pick up every piece of wood you see. Of course, as you build axes, using those will help you achieve even more wood and EXP.
There are also six ability points that players can reach, including:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
4 | Overhead Chop | Allows you to perform an overhead chop that drops with more power. |
11 | Axtral Projection | Use 5 Astral Runes and 10 Air Runes to conjure an astral axe for 45-seconds. |
16 | Bird Nests | You can find birds nests in felled trees. |
20 | Chop Thorny Vines | You can use a hatchet to chop down thorny vines. |
27 | Splinter | Chop felled trees easily with 5 Nature Runes and 10 Earth Runes at a 45-second cooldown. |
40 | Lumber Storage | You can find bird nests in felled trees. |
Artisan
The Artisan skill can be easily maxed out by continuously using your crafting table. Since you can use the table to create new weapons and armor and even repair them, earning that additional bit of EXP is easy. So, whenever you earn additional ability points that give you more things to craft, make them and continuously repair them to make the most out of each crafting table visit.
There are only four ability points that grant additional skills in the artisan category, including:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
11 | Bark to Bones | With 10 Nature Runes and 10 Earth Runes, you can transmute a tree into bones. |
20 | Superheat | With 15 Fire Runes and 5 Air Runes, boost fire-based crafting stations. |
27 | Magical Mending | With 10 Nature Runes and 20 Earth Runes, instantly repair your items. |
40 | Decorated Adventurer | Unlocks armor mannequin crafting recipe. |
Construction
Leveling up your Construction comes from how often you decide to build things. It can be hard to max out because you only build structures or craft recipes when you need them. It’s not like stones or wood pieces that you can passively earn EXP on by walking by and picking them up.
Personally, the easiest way to max out this skill is to create decorations for your base continuously. That way, even though you’ve already crafted and built everything you actually need, you can still earn Constructon EXP. There are eight abilities that can be learned from the Construction skill tree, including:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
3 | Middle Ground | Medium-sized buildings. |
5 | Fine Details | Small buildings. |
8 | Sacred Geometry | Triangular buildings. |
11 | Eye of Oculus | Use a fly-cam to build structures. |
16 | Creature Comforts | More furniture and decorations. |
18 | Oak | Oak building pieces. |
20 | Summon Shelter | With 10 Astral Runes and 10 Earth Runes, construct a temporary shelter with a bed. |
40 | Personal Chest | With 20 Law Runes and 10 Earth Runes you can access your storage chest from anywhere. |
Cooking
Because so much of the game relies on ensuring you’re focusing on your hunger and thirst, the Cooking skill is another relatively easy skill to max out. As you hunt animals or find potatoes or cabbages across the land, you can mix and match them in your kitchen to create various meals.
The fastest way to max this skill out is to find a body of water to settle down by, create a campfire, and collect as much dirty water as possible. Then, filter the dirty water to clean water using the campfires, and continue cycling this. You’re going to need the water anyway, and the higher your Cooking skill, the more buffs you’ll receive, including:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
11 | Fancy Cookware | Pan Rack furniture recipe. |
20 | Internal Alchemy | With 10 Nature Runes you can reset and food and drink buff. |
27 | Bones to Peaches | With 10 Nature Runes and 5 Earth Runes, transmute bones into peaches. |
40 | Yes, Chef! | Chef’s Hat recipe. |
Runecrafting
Of all the above skills, I think Runecrafting is the most difficult to level up. You’ll need to have a Rune Alter to begin really levelling it up. However, after you do, you can begin harvesting Rune Essences from the glowing, purple deposit spots you see all over Ashenfall. All you really need to do is, just like the stones and wood branches you find on the ground, use your pickaxe at each Rune Essence spot you find.
There are seven total abilities that can be learned from this skill tree, including:
Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
8 | Windstep | Air Magic. |
11 | Earth Runes | Earth Rune Recipe. |
13 | Fire Runes | Fire Rune Recipe. |
16 | Law Runes | Law Rune Recipe. |
18 | Nature Runes | Nature Rune Recipe. |
20 | Fire Spirit | Fire Spirit. |
27 | Essential Strength | Runes weigh 50% less. |
