  • May Has Other Surprises In Store

Xbox Game Pass impressed everyone with its April lineup, but May 2025 is already looking great, especially with one hit indie of 2023. While we are always on the lookout for day-one releases and big AAA shadow drops, Xbox Game Pass also has terrific indie surprises, and one of those coming this month is Dredge. This game is one of the most memorable fishing experiences that blends cozy gameplay with Lovecraftian horror and creates moments that are as relaxing as they are tense. If, for whatever reason, you didn’t play this at launch, you’re in for a treat.

Dredge Launches on Xbox Game Pass on May 6

According to the official site of Xbox Game Pass, Dredge will dock on May 6. This may be old news for some, but the truth is, many might’ve forgotten about this game due to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Oblivion Remastered. Yet, Dredge is worth experiencing, and when it comes to indie titles, it is one of the best out there.

As a somewhat normal fisher, you’re thrown into the most perilous waters full of otherworldly fish. At first, it’s a normal loop of fishing for strange creatures and upgrading your boat. However, the more you progress, the more you discover bizarre things happening around these areas.

On top of that, Dredge has a fantastic world-building and art style. It plays with horror elements perfectly and might even mirror that fear to the unknown depths we got from playing Subnautica back in the day. So, it is a game worth getting, especially now that it will be even more accessible for all gamers.

Yet, if you’ve already played Dredge, Xbox Game Pass also has a few other titles coming at the beginning of the month. On May 1, we got Anno 1800 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Both are games of different genres, but having a varied lineup on the platform is nice.

Anno 1800 is a terrific RTS game with excellent simulation and strategy elements. Plus, it has so many DLCs that, while not required, just make the overall experience much better. But if you prefer something more action-oriented, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is always a great choice. Even if it launched in 2022, it still has a great co-op mode and a good single-player campaign that you can enjoy.

In any case, Xbox Game Pass is off to a great start this month. We’ll likely get even more title announcements in the coming weeks, but when it comes to the first days of the month, these games should be enough to keep you occupied. Again, we can’t recommend Dredge enough, but the other two are equally fun. Yet, let’s face it: you’re going to play all of them anyway, right?
