Having grown up in a Spanish household, I am familiar with quinceañeras. These celebrations are essentially coming-of-age parties for a girl’s 15th birthday; you can think of them as the Spanish equivalent of a sweet sixteen. So, I thought it was interesting and stopped to watch when I saw a video of one Texas woman throwing a quinceañera. For whom, you ask? For her cat. Suddenly, I feel the need to ask my mom why she didn’t throw me one.
The above TikTok video goes over the cat’s entire party, which is just as lavish as it would be for a human. Alongside the personalized dress and tiara, the cat made a grand entrance in a remote-controlled SUV and received a concert from a mariachi band. The best part of the video is when the TikToker reveals that the band didn’t even know that they would be performing for a cat. A paycheck is a paycheck!

These parties are known to be quite expensive, often costing thousands of dollars. Given that the TikToker included all the typical thing you’d expect at a party like this, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up costing her a pretty penny. Luckily, her cat can’t ask for a new car or a vacation abroad!
I completely understand the desire to throw a party for your cat. If I had the money, I would do the same. I might not put as much effort into planning it as this TikToker did, but you get the idea. Additionally, sharing something like this online is a great way to bring cat lovers together and create another viral video. Cats are beloved animals! I hope the Houston-based woman shows up on my feed next year for throwing her cat a sweet sixteen party!
