Climate events can sometimes pass by peacefully or leave some damage in their wake. You usually expect damage from earthquakes, storms, or floods, but what about a lightning bolt? A Texas house faced the ugly side of nature as it was hit by a lightning bolt. While you might hope that nothing bad happened, the opposite is true. The lightning bolt made the Texas house catch fire in what can only be described as a horrifying event. People were shocked that something like this could happen. Others, somehow, found a funny side to the situation. This wouldn’t be the case, though, if they were in the owners’ shoes.
In a video taken in Colleyville, Texas, you can see footage caught by a camera outside a house. There is suddenly a lightning bolt that hits a house in the distance, and almost immediately, the Texas house catches fire. Right after the lightning bolt landed, you can see fire and clouds of smoke coming out of the house. Thankfully, it has been reported that only three people were injured, and their injuries were minor. Here’s hoping that they can get their house fixed.
People Reacting to the Texas House Catching Fire
People in the comments were either terrified by what they saw or joking about what happened to the Texas house. One person wrote a quote saying, “‘I’m sorry sir, you ARE insured for fire, but not for lightning strikes.’” Another person kept the jokes going as they wrote, “‘F**k that house in particular.’ – God.” Someone else pointed out in the replies that the fact that the Texas house caught fire that easily makes you wonder about what is happening there. “Really makes you wonder what is going on under that roof doesn’t it…,” they wrote. One Redditor was puzzled at how easily the house caught fire. “Wtf caught fire like that? Did they store gasoline on the roof?” they said. Someone then offered an explanation by saying:
“Timber frame + flammable insulation. We have flame retardant insulation, but it’s up to the builders if they actually want to pay the cost and use it. I’d bet they cheaped out and used something cheaper, these look like cookie cutter houses.”
Some people were afraid that something similar could happen to them. “New fear unlocked,” one wrote. Another, for some reason, wanted their house to go through the same thing as the Texas house. “I’m jealous that’s not my house getting struck,” they said. Another person hinted that the house was probably not built properly. “With how cheap houses are built these days don’t surprise me,” they wrote. Honestly, the situation is more sad than funny. After all, people were injured. Hopefully, no more houses will catch fire like the Texas house.
