Graveyards are supposed to be a sacred place. Sometimes, some problems might happen, but these problems usually involve humans. This wasn’t the case with how a California coyote was caught on camera digging up a grave. The thought itself is quite disturbing and also unusual. I, for one, have never seen anything like this. People reacted differently to the video, but a lot of them made fun of the situation. Others, however, started rethinking their decision to be buried.
In the video, you can see the California coyote digging up a hole right next to a headstone. It seems like he has been going at it for a while, with how deep the whole thing looked. The family filming the California coyote mentioned how he would stop whenever a car was passing by, only to continue once again. What his end goal was is quite unknown, but some have a few guesses. Few people assumed that the California coyote is actually hungry and digging up in search of bodies. Others assumed it was simply making a hole in the ground or a place to sleep in. I’m a little bit comforted by the fact that at least he won’t be able to open any coffins.
People Reacting to the California Coyote
People had different reactions when it came to the California coyote. Someone didn’t want to be buried in the ground anymore as they wrote, “Honestly dump my body out in the farallon islands so I can get eaten by sharks while I’m fresh instead.’ Another responded by saying, “I don’t think it’s looking for a meal. It’s making a den.” One person also agreed as they wrote, “digging a den.” Someone else focused on what gender the California coyote was. The owner of the video then confirmed that it was a male. “It’s definitely a male. I have another video wherein my son goes on and on about the coyotes anatomy…,” they wrote.
The jokes kept going as one Redditor said, “Oh no I think that’s the cemetery my grandma is at.” Since some assumed that the California coyote was looking for food, someone replied and said, “Not anymore.” Another person was way too excited about the idea of the California coyote making a den for himself. “F**k yeah coyote! Get down here! God I hope I get to be a coyote den when they bury me!” they wrote. I’m honestly grateful that I don’t have any family members buried there. Good luck to those who do, though.
