When you own a house, you hope that your neighbors will be nice or at least decent enough to leave you alone. A Philadelphia man didn’t hit the jackpot with his neighbor. Unfortunately for the Philadelphia man, his neighbor, who is 51 years old, can only be described as insane. He shared how his neighbor has been threatening him and his family for over 10 months. The worst thing is that the police claim they can’t arrest the insane neighbor. How is this even possible? I don’t know, but someone needs to intervene before something bad happens.
The Philadelphia man described how his insane neighbor, who lives on his own, is more than violent. The neighbor keeps screaming in his house and threatening the innocent man’s family by saying he would kill them. Sometimes he comes out with a baseball bat and keeps slamming it on the ground. After going to the police, which anyone would assume to be the solution, the Philadelphia man was left disappointed. The police only told him to get security cameras so they can film him while he is threatening them.
The Philadelphia man did just that, and when he went to the police this time, the police contradicted what they said. Apparently, it’s “not a crime” to threaten someone’s life, and they can’t use security footage. Weren’t they the ones who told him to get security cameras in the first place? This level of violence could end terribly, especially with how the insane neighbor was behaving in the video. He was yelling, threatening the family, and also throwing trash cans.

The Philadelphia man continues detailing how he was left disappointed by the Philadelphia police’s response. They basically told him that they will only arrest the insane neighbor if they see him doing what he is doing live. He says:
“This whole experience has shown how utterly useless the Philadelphia Police have become. I was neither served, nor protected in any way. Numerous neighbors called (and have in the past). We all provided our statements and gave the 10-month history. All the Police did was send a couple people out for a health check on the guy and let him be. There are no consequences to crimes in this city. This guy can do what he pleases it seems and the police have only shown they are frustrated with US for calling them when he is outside threatening us.”
Things have gotten worse to the point that the Philadelphia man decided to take his family and leave the state. This was the only solution he had left, especially with how this has been going on for 10 months, and the police aren’t intervening.
People Reacting to the Philadelphia Man’s Situation
It’s expected that anyone who would come across this situation would be left shocked by how the police aren’t doing anything. One person encouraged the Philadelphia man to get the news involved. “it absolutely is a crime to threaten someone with violence. I’d go to the police station and show a video of that exact thing. If the useless piggies don’t help, find a local politician. If that slimeball doesn’t help, you need to go to the news. Shit, there’s people on tiktok that force police and politicians to do their jobs,” they said. The Philadelphia man responded by saying:
“I went to the station and they just kept talking over me until I left basically. Refuse to help. Must see it in person they said.”
Another person continued the hate train directed at the Philadelphia police. “Yeah Philadelphia cops are pretty useless and lie, like most police agencies. I personally wouldn’t believe what they just told you,” they wrote. To make matters worse, the police lied to the man and claimed that he couldn’t file a 302 petition because he wasn’t a family member of the insane neighbor. According to Main Line Health, a 302 petition is “an involuntary commitment for psychiatric placement at an Inpatient psychiatric unit.” One Redditor pointed out that the police were lying by saying, “This is false. Anyone in the community can do it. It does NOT require a family member.” Someone recommended getting a lawyer involved, as they said, “Get a lawyer, have them pressure the police into action.” The entire situation is quite insane. I just hope the Philadelphia man and his family would be okay.
