Sean Diddy Combs is seemingly looking for a little help from above as opening statements began in his high-profile federal sex trafficking trial. Jurors and spectators found the rapper’s demure behavior surprising, as the rapper goes above and beyond to win over the jury.
Entering the courtroom, Diddy was dressed in a sweater and khakis. He happily greeted two rows of family and friends, showing their support. Combs acknowledged their support with a wide grin, tapping his chest, flashing a thumbs-up, and a heart with his hands. Six of his adult children and his mother were seated directly behind him in the second row.
Sean Diddy Combs continued to pull out all the stops as he and his legal team geared up for a long court battle in hopes of proving Diddy’s innocence. During opening statements, Combs sat quietly and appeared to read from the Holy Bible as opening statements kicked off.
Observers in the courtroom paid close attention to the rapper’s behavior. They described Sean Diddy Combs as appearing anxious with a vacant expression and subtle foot fidget.
However, it was his behavior during opening statements that caught a lot of attention. Prosecutors addressed the jury with details of the allegations. But Diddy reportedly appeared out of sorts, choosing to read the Bible, according to TMZ reports.
“When heathens suddenly grab the bible and start pretending. It’s a mockery of your past as if you never did it,” one trial follower comments. “He’s gonna try every trick in the book,” another adds.
Many of the trial’s followers believe Diddy’s turn to scripture and family is not accidental. They feel the family unity looks to indicate Combs’ family may have allegedly been coached to play it up, hoping to gain sympathy.

The Combs family maintained a stone-faced, emotionless front as prosecutors detailed the charges against Diddy. His mother, Janice Combs, stood out, donning dark sunglasses indoors as the courtroom spotlight intensified.
Diddy’s legal defense is led in part by Teny Geragos, daughter of famed attorney Mark Geragos. Teny delivered the opening statement for the defense, but her words struggled to hold the attention of the entire jury. A few jurors appeared to nod off, resting their heads in their hands just ahead of lunch.
Things began to heat up after lunch as testimonies became more disturbing and graphic. So much so that Sean Diddy Combs’ three youngest daughters abruptly exited the courtroom during his sex crimes trial, according to People.
Jurors and spectators were confronted with explicit accounts involving so-called Freakoffs. Disturbing details of threesomes, prostitution, sexual acts, voyeurism, and drug use were explicitly described.
As previously reported, last week during jury selection, Diddy was allegedly moving to possibly connect and charm the potential jurors. The shamed music mogul is allegedly showing his approval for specific jurors. Combs is reportedly nodding his head up and down. Or shaking it left and right as a way of showing his opinion of each person.
The rapper is facing serious federal charges, which include racketeering, conspiracy, and sex trafficking. If convicted, Sean Diddy Combs could face life in prison. Day two of the Sean Diddy Combs trial continues on Tuesday.
